Modern Warfare 3 NFR - Real or Fake

I bought an Xbox 360 and games from a guy at a yard sale, only to come home and find this copy of MW3 NFR. I did research and found out that if this is a real copy, it was used at the Walmart Midnight Release. Walmart allowed customers to play copies of the game prior to midnight at 8 o'clock to try out the multiplayer. This would make sense, but the copy of the game is a full release version and can be played like the normal game. There aren't even any cosmetic differences between the full release and the NFR copy. My questions are: Is the copy of the game in the NFR case matching the case or is it just a normal copy? Has any of these games been found anywhere else? If you can't answer any of these questions still give me your insight because I'm stumped as to whether I should treat it as just another copy, or a relatively rare, albeit Xbox 360 NFR game. If nothing else point me in the direction of someone who might know answers, as I couldn't find anything online and have resorted to Nintendoage for my Xbox troubles. I've got images posted below of the retail game and NFR copy that I have. The bottom image of the inside of the cases is the NFR and the top is retail. Thanks for the help in advance.

  • Looks like a display case to me. Companies like gamestop do this all the time to promote the game for launch or just show that they have it. I remember getting one like this for gears of war 3 when that came out, they didn't have the original case so they put it in one of their promo ones and called it good. That would also explain to me why they do not have NTSC on it for the games region and why it could be labeled as not for resale. Not certain, but that is what I would have to guess based on my observations.
  • Thanks I appreciate the answer. I would've never thought of that but now that you've said it makes perfect sense.
