Fire Emblem GBA weird label variant

Hey everyone,

I just picked up a copy of Fire Emblem for the Game Boy Advance at a game store and I've never seen this label before.

I did some google searches and I don't see this label at all. Any thoughts?

  • That copy is a bootleg. Has the product code for Fairly Odd Parents: Breakin da Rules. Also, the label is also too small.

  • Ahh, okay thanks. I'm not too knowledgable in the whole bootleg world. This basically means the game is worth nothing?

Why would they bootleg the game with a different label and product code for a different game?
  • The game is worth as much as someone is willing to pay for a bootleg, to me, worthless. No clue as to why they used the wrong product code, perhaps because they didn't know the real one.
  • Thanks for all your help, I appreciate it!
  • It's weird, but using the wrong product code is actually very common on bootleg GBA games.

The bootleggers don't have any concept of what the code actually corresponds to

  • Just to be clear, the bootleg is not worth anything (unless you try to resell it to someone who doesn't know better), and you should try to get your money back if you paid the retail price for that game.

If you have the little tri-wing screwdriver to open the cartridge, you can verify that it's a bootleg (as opposed to authentic board but reproduction label), if you want.
  • Thanks for everyone's input. I took it back and they agreed it was a bootleg.
  • You would hope that a game store would know better than to stock bootlegs. Let's just hope this was an honest mistake... Unfortunately I fear this may not be a one off occurrence!
