A misprint I've been on the lookout for ever sense I heard of it around 8 years ago. When I saw it I immediately bought it. The game plays crash twinsanity.
Crash Twinsanity was released September 28 2004 and Lord of the rings the third age was released November 2 2004 seems like they were still making crash when they began production of the Lord of the rings game. Something went wrong at the factory.
How to tell this misprint from regular copies it will have a PDSS number on the back of the disc similar to this one PDSS-019195A1( this one belongs to Genji Dawn of the Samurai) Which will not match what's printed on the front of the disc near the edge
Oh wow. That sure seems like something that wouldn't be around due to returns, etc. and impossible to tell online if you've found one. How did you eventually get it? Seller who knew what they had or described it well?

It popped up on eBay and I jumped at the chance to get it
This is awesome and, for the record, I am probably one of the 1-2% who would bought a game, saw it was a misprint, swore a bit in anger, but kept it as well.
Great Scott! Sure, sometimes there's a slight shift and I think "yeah, I guess you could call that a printing error" but this one is really messed up!
what's really great about it is that it's only on one side of the label meaning the classic side although not at pronounced it's noticible on the front portion of that cover
and there is there's different amounts of seperation of the print and numbers of prints to near the wrinkles
Sure, but have you ever thought about adding a watermark or something with your logo to all of the pictures on there?
I bought an upside down Sim City a few months ago and the seller had used your picture they found on the internet as a stock photo, but sent me a regular cart and was confused when I wanted to return it
I'm starting to get the impression that Squaresoft couldn't give a crap about their game printing presses. You ever get the FF VII Greatest Hits misprint? The one with Sephiroth and flames on both sides of the inner case?
no I don't have a double Sephiroth misprint i do however have the "floating i" or "masterpiece" misprint
The thing you gotta remember is that the acutal manufacturing was made by a few factories which had nothing to do with the main company who developed the game besides reciving the master disc and graphics for the covers.
the fact that a lot of Sqaresoft/Squeenix games are misprinted is mainly because they sold so many copies

Congrats!! But would you mind elaborating a little more on what we are looking at here?
I think he's saying the game appears to be a LotR game, but it is in fact a Crash Bandicoot game when you put the disc in the machine.

My mind read the line as "The game play crashes instantly" but in some sort of auto-correct nightmare ..... I see now.
@hybrid - what's the give away then?

Yes exactly as Quaze stated it's what I call a data error.
First found in 2011 by someone called Itchy Koala on Atari age forums.

@hybrid, are you planning to document the different types of misprints in a guidebook format?
Just read through this thread. Pretty interesting about some of the history behind the misprints.
