Question about NES/Famicom controllers

I wanted to pick up a brand new dogbone controller and noticed that I can get the Famicom AV version for much cheaper than the NES model. They appear to be identical besides saying Famicom instead NES on the back. My question is - Will the Famicom dogbone work on my NES?

Comments

  • The Super Famicom controllers work on SNES. I would think the Famicom dogbone should work on NES.
  • I think the cords might be shorter.

Yes. They are much shorter. I have some Famicom dogbone controllers. They work fine too.
  • Thanks guys. Looks like I'm getting the NES version anyway. That short cord is a deal breaker.

Shouldn't be difficult to swap the cord with one from a USA rectangle controller.

What's weird about the dogbone controller is that it has a socket connecting the wire to the board as opposed to the rectangle controller which has the wires just soldered to it. Although I can't imagine it being too difficult, I should probably do that to my Famicom Dogbone Controller.
