NES to Famicom adapter

Is this not a common thing? I bought a famicom and don't want to buy an Everdrive Famicom version because I have an NES as well, but I'm liking the Famicom a lot more. I see one for $30 on Stoneagegamer; anyone know of a cheaper one?

  • Definitely not as common as the 60 to 72 PIN ones.

I could see you having to pay within the price range for one.

I found one for $22 on Aliexpress, but it's not shielded or with a case so I guess I'll have to pay up for the SAG one.

When I bought my 62 to 60 adapter I just bought the PCB and mounted it inside a SMB/DH shell and cut the shell down with a dremel tool and sanded it up and super glued it shut.

I also cut little slits and mangeled an extra Game Genie for the plastic grip piece and mounted it onto the cart shell so you can pull it out after!

Honestly I think it beats the shit out of the good quality Honey Bee ones I see for sale.

  • I just spent $40 on one. The stone age gamer was sold out when i tried to buy.
  • If Famicom EverDrive N8 supports some expansion / FDS audio, I'd prefer to have that instead of the NES EDN8.

I'll definitely have to check that option out, currently looking for a DIY solution and how these actually work; doesn't seem like any logic is involved. I'm a pretty cheap person haha.

This is true, I haven't really read into the FDS, I may eventually buy a Twin. I'll have to see if it's NESRGB compatible.

One of of my first 3D prints. I didn't have the leveling right, but I kinda like the texture effect.

The adapter inside that 3D-printed shell came from a copy of Gyromite.

  • That's exactly what I'm looking for, couldn't filter out the other arrangement for NES. Is it worth it to just get the Famicom Everdrive and use a gyromite adapter then, wasn't aware of any enhanced features over the NES like someone else mentioned. Guess I'll do some more research but I'll save that eBay link.
  • Make sure you don't end up with an adapter designed for the 60 pin clones. They look the part but the pins are too short to work on a proper famicom
  • I got an extra one if you are really in a pinch. $10 shipped gets it for ya, it just has no shell.
  • Bought, thanks guy.

Found a copy of Excitebike today:

Now I've found them in Excitebike, Pinball, and several copies of Gyromite. Stack-Up too, but I believe every single copy of that game has the adapter inside.
  • Yeah, every Stack-Up has one. It's the only game guaranteed to have an adapter.
