how does the collection tracker handle duplicate games?
for instance, I have 2 copies of Mega Man 4, one loose one complete, would the collection tracker let me add both (loose & complete) and add both to the over all value or will one override the other?
Reason I ask is because I am trying to get an idea of the value for insurance and if my house burns down and both my my Mega Man 4's get crisped I want them both to be covered.
PS:
if you guys could figure out a deal with the peeps that made the GAMEYE app and their cart scanning thing that sounds pretty dope I bet you could take over the collection value and tracking world
What's the story with the TurboGrafx System cards? I know they're not technically games, but you've got a ton of other non-game stuff listed for the system (turbotap, boosters, etc) so I think you should add the two System cards as well. The 2.0 card is sort of common, but the 3.0 card is pretty tough to find and it officially had a CIC release, so anyone going for the US set of cards can go after these two system cards and they'll have all 96 hucards/turbochips made for the US system...

It adds two copies of the game. In your collection you will see it listed twice in a row and you can change the CIB options on them seperate.

Hmmm... Would you considder these an accessories? How was the 2.0 card sold? I can definitely get these added. I'm just not familiar enough with them to make a good decision on how they should be handled.

Puppy Nailed it on the duplicate games.
As far as the cart scanning. I've actually played around with image recognition software myself. If I can find the time, it is definitely something that I would like to add to the site.
The System 2.0 card was only sold with the CD add-on, and thus, has no jewel case or anything; the system 3.0 card was available via mail order direct from NEC, and came with a jewel case and manual. So if I were you, I'd have the System 2.0 card with only a "loose" price, and the 3.0 card with both loose and CIC (and New, I guess, if anyone ever sells a sealed one). To me the point of adding these two system cards is for the sake of completeness; with those, you'll have every card that was made for the US TurboGrafx priced out on your site.

So I went to add these last night and it turns out we already have these in our database. They are listed as TG-CD accessories. :-)

That's cool, and good to know. But they're hucards, not CD's, but I guess that's just splitting hairs. It does explain why I've never seen them listed though (I only collect hucard games).
GVN isnt going to let users just create stuff everywhere for the site. Common sense that that would be a nightmare.
So what am I supposed to do when I want to add a game that isn't already in the database?
dont add it. Just message him to look into adding it. Not too big a deal imo. Most everything is on there besides niche stuff. New stuff will get added eventually. If you are that particular having to put a limited run games game in there so fast make yourself a google doc or something and record it there and message him to add it, then you add it when he does.

Hey guys, let me see if I can't clear this up.
As Quest stated, it isn't feasable to let everybody add games to the site. We needed a way to allow users to add games that we do not track to the site, which is why we added the "User Created Item". We allow users to "Suggest" that a game get added to the site, and when we would review the user created items that were suggested, we could then use the data that was inputed to add the game quicker than adding the game manually. By doing so, we could then update everyones "User created Item" that matched the one that we just added and point it to the new listing on GVN. I thought this was a good idea at the time and it worked well for awhile.
Since getting the site rolling again, I just last week finished adding all of the missing games that were released this year. The amount of time it would take to go through the over 3000 "User Created Items" just wasn't in the cards. The goal from here on out is to get games added to the site a week before they are released. If we miss a game, shoot us a message by email or on here. I do my best to be as responsive as possible.
Got another question about an observation-- since coming back online, I've noticed that he Percentage Change of the value of my collection has dropped about 25%. However, I'm pretty sure my collection hasn't only not dropped that much, looking at the current value, I think it's gone up, maybe 15-20% from what I recall it being last December.
That said, I wanted to give the system about a month, but it's still reporting a very large percentage decrease. How is this value derived and if it's no longer a feasible metric, can we get it removed? Thanks.

This should be working. I'll look into it when I get home tonight. I have some changes to push to the tracker, so if there is something going on, I'll fix it.

Thanks again for bringing this to my attention RLH. I was able to find an issue with our calculation that is effecting a portion of our users (you included). I will have a fix for this out tomorrow night. :-)
Aaero, Ace of Seafood, Future Unfolding, Kero Blaster, Kill The Bad Guy, Momodora: Reverie Under The Moonlight, Ruiner, Screencheat, Senko no Ronde 2, The Metronomicon: Slay the Dance Floor, Thimbleweed Park, Typoman: Revised for PS4 are all missing from the database. Please add them?

Thanks for the quick turnaround! Got two more in the mail from LRG today - Toto Temple Deluxe and Escape Goat 2 for PS4.
No problem :-). I added those you listed as well. Let me know if you run into any more. I believe we are still missing a few LRG's. I will be going through them this weekend and double checking to make sure we have them all.

Hogie1418, do you plan on extending the tracker to the app?
That is the plan, but unfortunately I do not have a timeline as to when it will happen. I have been extremely busy and the time that I have been focusing on the site has been dedicated to maintaining the prices and getting completely caught up on games that we are missing from the last 6 months (I still have a number of LRG games that still need to be added.

Do you plan on adding more consoles / handhelds / accessories in the near future?
I am really close to getting caught up on games, so I will try to get more hardware and accessories added in soon. Is there a particular console that you would like to see finished first?
