I can't imagine an N64 classic being financially viable. It's often cited at one of the worst Nintendo home consoles. Just not seeing it happen
You should see the enthusiasm in r/N64 on Reddit.
The system is divisive, but it has a huge fan base. I would know since my twin brother and I have installed 200+ UltraHDMI upgrades over the last year and a half.

So? Just because there’s some fanatics on Reddit doesn’t mean it’s financially viable. I don’t think it has the titles to command much interest. Maybe I’m wrong, but I highly doubt this will ever be more than a wish for the n64 enthusiasts.
As much as I'd love to see an N64 classic, we know if it did happen it would be missing out on a bunch of key games that made the system great - the Rare games. No Goldeneye, no Banjo, no Conker, no Jet Force Gemini, no Diddy Kong Racing (yes it's based on a Nintendo property but Rare owns Conker and Banjo and the original characters in the game so it's a no go). While it wouldn't automatically mean an N64 classic would be bad, it would always feel like something's missing to me.
In any event, an N64 classic would destroy the PS1 classic. Not only would Nintendo pick the right games, but let's be honest, Playstation doesn't have the same nostaglic appeal Nintendo consoles do. Doesn't matter if you liked or disliked them, but most first party Nintendo games are timeless. People who play PlayStation and Xbox primarily are only looking for the latest and greatest, they're not concerned about nostalgia "clouding" their judgment. I am willing to bet that even with better games the PS1 classic would not outdo either the NES or SNES classic. It would've done better, much better probably, but Nintendo wins in the nostalgia department, every time.
That said, if Nintendo did make a new Classic console, I'd rather it be the Game Boy Classic than N64. I love N64, but I own all the games I need for it, and I don't expect them to get the emulation for the games and recreating N64 controllers right... and like I said it would be missing a handful of really key games because Rare owns them.
Diddy Kong Racing has already been re-released on Nintendo DS without Banko and Conker though I doubt they'd easily be able to re-work the N64 version.

Now that would be something - provided you could play it on the go and on your TV. I'm not a "on-the-go" gamer, so portability isn't something I care about, but I think that a GB Classic could be a smash hit.
I ordered one yesterday from Walmart when it was $39.99. Also had balance from an old gift card I used. Only ordered one because I plan to add things to it.
I wouldn't even pay one dollar for that garbage...isn't not even worth being a paperweight
I'd literally rush to buy one for $20. At that price point, I can justify the purchase knowing exactly what I'm getting, with the possibility to do more down the road (e.g. mod it, or worst-case, use it as a Raspberry Pi case). I've paid more for quirkier little wastes of time.
I actually saw some of these for the first time in my local Target a week or two ago. I haven't seen them until then...which made me wonder why. I thought a lot of places ordered a ton of these expecting them to sell out fast like the NES/SNES classic?
At that current price, it's starting to become a bit more appealing. Honestly, though, the bad emulation really kills it for me. This thing never really stood a chance as there are so many devices in the wild that play PS1 games already, and it can be super cheap to build a decent collection if you adopt a few strategies:

I’d love to respond to that but this is the PlayStation classic thread
Oh noes. Similar topic in the same thread

Well these systems were huge rivals back in the day.

Down to $59 on Amazon Canada and EB Games. $70 off already.
Yup, it's official; it SUCKS.
Was this just during Christmas/Boxing Day sales? Lowest I've seen was $79 locally at Best Buy. I would buy one under $50 but not in any rush...

Eat a giant bag of Dicks Sony. Hopefully the team you tasked with damaging your brand gets a reprimand.
Edit:nope misread. $40.
Still, 60% drop. Ouch.

Green labels? Woof.
Green labels? Woof.
I threw up in my mouth a little.
Green labels? Woof.
