Favorite Super Hero Movie

Bringing it up because Glass is about to release. I'm a big fan of Unbreakable, so getting pretty excited to seeing the follow up. Although since I'm cheap especially when it comes to going to the movies, I probably won't see it for a while, haha.

    Or deadpool
  • I dunno, maybe 1989 Batman? I love the atmosphere and overall aesthetics of that film. Not much into Super Hero movies too much beyond that, but I did like the first Iron Man movie. Not really into stuff like Aquaman or Wonder Woman or anything, although I did enjoy the animated film of Wonder Woman a while back.

Guilty pleasure overall for me is Suicide Squad. I just love that movie. lol
  • Batman Returns.

I'm into wonder woman, for the obvious reason.

  • I really enjoyed most of the mcu but more specifically guardians of the galaxy.
  • Guardians of the Galaxy.
  • Batman the Movie! Thou shalt have no other Batmen before Adam West.

Haha, I came to say The Toxic Avenger.  I said it half joking in the action movie thread, but I have watched it many times. Definitely more than any other superhero movie.
  • The Hulk with Edward Norton used to be my favorite, but now I think Guardians of the Galaxy.
  • 1978's Superman by far.

It made me believe a man could fly.
  • Civil war or Batman.

  • The new Spiderman trailer has me pumped to finally see Mysterio on the big screen. I had always held out hope that Bruce Campbell in the Sam Raimi spiderman movies was Mysterio all along, just waiting for a big reveal   But Jake Gyllenhaal looks like he'll fit the part.

In terms of existing favorites, really too many to pick from at this point, as there have been quite a few that are really enjoyable popcorn movies.

While I do agree that 1966 Batman is by far the best Batman movie of all time, it still cannot surpass Christopher Reeve Superman for me.

It comes close as a second place in my list.

Adam West was so damn suave as Bruce Wayne and so jaunty as Batman. Sheer perfection.

  • The Dark Knight by far. One of my favorite movies. Followed by Infinity War. I know it just came out but it tied my record of seeing a movie 5 times in the theater. And of course, it tied The Dark Knight. Also they're my two favorite super hero comics types of stories. Gritty stuff like Batman and Daredevil and cosmic space gods like Darkseid and Thanos and Galactus.
  • The Dark Knight for me as well. I've never been able to get into the Marvel movies, but I do want to watch the new Spider-Man ones at some point.

The final "hero" sequence of Unbreakable was painful to watch... Bruce walks into the house, slowly and clumisly looks around without giving any thought to finding and incopacitating the bad guy. Locates children and clumsily frees them while maintaining zero situational awareness. Then finds the mom and stands there like a complete idiot as the bad guy (who he knows is in the house all along) gets the jump on him. In doing so he opens himself to being subjected to THE ONLY WEAKNESS HE HAS (he can drown) by allowing himself to be knocked into the pool....

Geez... What a frustratingly slow paced and terribly arranged sequence.

The final scene pissed me off. I can't even watch the film again, and it was text!

Michael Keaton as a Spiderman villain was worth the price of admission by itself.

Superman and Superman II round out my top three.

As a kid, the scene in Superman 3 where the computer/machine eats the person was nightmare inducing.

I'm glad I'm not the only one left with a bad taste after that film. I honestly wasn't aware that "Split" was set within the same universe until previews for "Glass" started showing up. I willingly avoided "Split" because it looked weird and unappealing. If "Glass" is just going to be an extension of those 2 films, then I'm a hard pass. lol

To the point of the thread, It's really tough to pick a favorite.

TMNT 2: The Secret of the Ooze

    Iron Man

    The Avengers

If any of those are on, I watch. Since it came out more than a decade earlier than the other 2, I've definitely seen TMNT 2 more times.

Superman 1 and 2 are up there for me. Christopher Reeve is the definitive Superman and General Zod is almost as great a villain as Hans Gruber.

I also enjoy Superman 3 and 4 quite a bit. I even read the novelization of Quest for Peace in fifth grade.
