Hi Score Girl on Netflix, great anime about arcades and 90s games

Lots of good quality gameplay about Street Fighter 2 primarily, but also some home console play too.  12 episodes, about 22 minutes each, lots of it being about games, but the story is compelling too.  Just finished the season and it's quite good.  Thought I'd throw it out there in case someone was interested in some 90s arcade/gaming reminiscing.

  • I disagree when he said the TurboGrafx 16 (PC Engine) is "in no way inferior to the Super Nintendo (Super Famicom).

    Ha!
  • cool, thanks. I'll check it out
  • Popped up on my feed and I saved it but didnt watch. I will make it a point to now if its even reasonably good.

    Thanks
  • Don't know how he was excited to play Street Fighter II' in school on his Turbo Express with only 2 buttons. Yuck! That is not the proper home console experience on the go.
  • The express is so expensive. Thanks for the recommendation.
  • Make extra sure you let Vex know about this he LOVES this stuff. (heh)
  • Never heard of it...I'll give it a look.

I almost never hear anything about anime on Netflix which is odd...
  • This anime is entirely too dangerous if you are a lady that was in the same age range the main characters are during the show and too went to the arcades to play fighting games.

Bloody thing got me by the ovaries.

    You have been warned.
  • That TurboExpress though
  • So spoiler for anyone who isn't on the 2nd episode yet but I gotta ask...

The "urban legend" arcade they go to...I recognize it actually. It was a picture floating around online of a grungy looking basement arcade somewhere in Japan. Anyone know what I'm talking about? It's a real place!
  • Didn't watch this when it aired, but it sounds like something I'd enjoy. Although I doubt it's as good as New Game...
  • Welp I binged watched it after telling myself not to...got hooked!

The CGI was jarring at times but I totally love this anime. Wish the manga was in English...I'd totally buy it

That arcade in episode two though is bugging the heck out of me. I tried Googling everything I could think of and nothing comes up. I know it was a picture circling on Reddit...it was a grungy basement arcade in Japan like frozen in time. Had mainly tabletop arcades not the stand up cabs.
