Something that brings my piss to a boil

I may channel my inner Nerd here so bear with me...

I've been buying some PS1, PS2 and Gamecube games from Amazon and Ebay lately since my local used game store never seems to have a few titles I've been looking for. Why in the unholy mother of ass do most of these bastard sellers not have the case with the box art? Why is it always "DISC ONLY DISC ONLY DISC ONLY" What a shit load of fuck. I can understand with NES and Super NES and N64 games. Back in the day it was "Piss on the boxes" the games were important but who in the hell never had the PS1 cases or PS2 cases? Did people really throw them in a CD case? Do you do that with DVDs? Here's a nice blu ray box set of the X-Files. Piss on the plastic! I'm gonna throw that into a horrible case with a zipper on it. What the hell is wrong with people?

  • I mean yeah, a lot of the time my PS1 cases would break. Like the little plastic ends that held it to the back part. But the manual was fine and the back art was still there. I'm really upset about this. Who wants to buy just a shitty disc? You want the case right?
  • Someone needs a nap.
  • Yeah that sure does suck. I can't imagine why you would throw out the cases for those systems, because it is literally the best way to store them in. I don't really collect for those systems, the only disc based console I'm really into is the Wii, but I haven't seen much disc only offers lately. Maybe because I don't use Amazon or Ebay that often.
  • Now tell us how you really feel.
  • I know what you mean. The same with DS games. The games themselves are small and could easily be misplaced. However, many people still throw the cases away.
  • People put them in case logic bulk cd cases
  • It may be written a bit like a raving and ranting post but he is right. Carts are rugged, they came with sleeves and little manuals, and the boxes by normal people would be tossed because they were retail packing like a cereal box meant to be chucked. But when it came to CDs they're overly fragile against contact scrtaching, warping from heat, and other odd stuff that'll wreck their usability. Yet you do have this weird wonder of idiots who buy stuff like that, immediately throw out everything, and stuff the case in one of those scratchy sleeve binders because it's so called easier. Not really, they're meant for transport in cars or whatever, and again really meant mostly for audio too for that convenience. Games though aren't CDs they don't typically new or used cost you $5-15 like a CD would, they're $40-50 or more if you include HD era games. It always blew my mind people would toss stuff so much. I get the cheap cases crack, usually the little prongs for the disc itself or the brittle hinge tabs, but that's why they all used common off the shelf replaceable cheaply so cases.

I have a situation whre I got a game from a goodwill, well almost, I have a case, art, and manual because someone stole the disc. I've had the case for months because finding the loose disc without some gouge worthy dumb stuff is a bit trickier. Sure it's a matter of paying $10-15 vs 20-25 for it, but it's the principle of the matter. So yeah there are legit reasons to just want a disc, but when it comes to amazon I do wonder why so many listings alone are just that, and people want blind faith purchases not even bothering to show images or describe things. I would never buy from a person like that. I don't really buy Nintendo branded older games anymore, got kits to avoid the price problems going on, but PS1 is one of a couple old systems I actively bother with so I do bump into that annoyance so I can relate.
  • Ive known people who threw out that stuff because of extensive damage to cover/manual and then decided to make thier own. Another reason already mentioned games can take up quite a bit of space so i also knew people who would put the games in one of those cd holders. You cant tell me you need a manual to play all your games.
  • I completely agree with the OP, and his insane ramblings.
  • Is the piss still inside of you when it is boiling? I would think that would cause serious damage, or even death. Doesn't sound like a good way to go at all. Or does it boil on it's own while in the toilet? That sounds more like magic.

Yeah, I knew a few people that did that, especially when it came time to go to college and they wanted to bring their games with them.

  • Good question...is it like the DS games at Gamestop where they toss the case/manual? Maybe it's Gamestops doing lol - or maybe the sellers are buying up lots of scratched discs and refinishing them or something.

    QFT

The best way to bring your collection to a friend's place was a multi-disc case. Meanwhile the jewel cases for each game stayed at home in a CD tower

Or were thrown into the trash like a lot of people I knew did.

  • I mean yeah, I only buy CIB, so obviously I'd pass by any disc-only games; I consider them basically worthless. But I mean... I get it. I USED to have CD carrier cases with zippers that held like 30 discs, where I'd store my PC game discs. This was mandated by my parents though, I wasn't allowed to keep boxes due to space.
  • You know what makes my piss boil? Bath salts. Remember those? The only disk only I ever bought was Saturn symphony of the night because complete price is outrageous. What a great version of the game if you know the game well enough navigate through Japanese txt.
  • I bet this dude'll turn right into the kid from Kindergarten Cop who says "boys have a penis and girls have a vagina" after one bite of a Snickers.
  • Most people aren't crazy OCD collectors I think that's what it BOILS down to.
  • I mean I agree it's incredibly stupid to not keep the case for disc based systems. But this is old news. People have been doing this for years. I never understood it myself but then again I like keeping my stuff in tip top condition.
  • Who pissed in your cereal?
  • I just got finished tossing all my game cases, friggin things take up too much space

  • Spoiled brats who don't take care of their stuff and too lazy to put the disc back in it's right case and place on the shelf. If it breaks mommy and daddy would buy them a new one. Just another reason the younger generations sucks last decent gen was those who grew up during the NES and SNES era, we who appreciated things like those Nintendo power magazine foldout posters. A time before selfies if you will.
  • Makes a better coaster or Frisbee when you unwrap em
  • That reminded me when in Russia someone skipped school and on the next day teacher would ask where the person was someone would always throw a joke "I drank a hot tea but my bladder burst and I burned my legs."
  • this is definitely not a prevalent issue at all. Stop buying from bums.
  • In our case, it's all the previous owner's negligence. When people trade-in games, sometimes we get them without cases and such. So we have no choice but to sell them that way. However, we do try and make some generic cases with a regular old crappy printer and regular paper as to not be confused with originals and so that someone could have at least SOMETHING to put on their shelves 'till they can find an original case.

I can't speak for all sellers, but loose discs = less weight. Less weight = less shipping cost. With the cost on shipping about to go up soon, coupled by the fact that the loose discs sell for a lot less, people try to get every bit of $$$ they can get. I've seen games go from 3-7 oz. with manuals and covers and such, but with thin jewel cases, it's about 1.5 to 3 oz.

This is actually a good point. I Buy tons of Discs from overseas and tons of sellers ive talked to PERFER to ship without cases. They will ask you if you want to keep covers and manuals but i could see some people not caring about those parts and just telling the seller to chuck it.

Oh yeah, especially interneational since shipping is waaayyy more. When I used to work at a online CD music store, the internatioal sales we get we would sell without cases to save on weight. We would have our listings state that if they wanted the cases, they can be included, but with extra cost.

What we did with the extra cases, we'd use them to replace broken ones for domestic sales. That includes double/quad cases, trays, all kinds of stuff. That, and I got to take a few home for my PS1 and Japanese Saturn games. lol
