Yeah, the only reason it seems to make even more Wii U games would be to try to pull in set collectors (of which how many can there really be for Wii U considering what the Switch did to it?). If they want to do something neat like a 5 player game, or a game that uses the controller, or some eShop exclusive, cool. I would not be into scraping the bottom of the barrel "These releases exist because we have the rights!" games like if they released Mutant Mudds or something.

But more Just Dance games, there's always room for more Just Dance games.
  • I highly, highly doubt LRG will start a Wii U line of games. I'm pretty sure they said this was the one and only Wii U game they were doing when they announced Axiom Verge for it.

As long as they are extremely limited, then I'm all for it.  But didn't some of the LRG games have runs of less than 300?  That's way too low for a physical release, and would make this set very difficult to collect for in the future.

    3000

but im sure wii u releases would be preorders like the switch
  • they said, they need to make up for the loss of VITA REVENUE and for the PS3 they can only get their hands on maybe 5-8 titles max..but for WII U and 3DS, the door is wide open on digital only titles...LRG is convinced their is a frenzy over WII U like DREAMCAST and as long as they keep the print runs low..they will be sold out...you can't underestimate Nintendo collectors..especially when LRG market's them as "extremely limited'..."never to be printed again" etc...especially with SCALPERS on board...True at the time AXIOM VERGE was printed...they did state it would be one and only Wii U..but they now feel like it's like leaving money at the table..because of how many more switch open order's they sold compared to SONY games..they think WII U will still sell plenty of copies.

When and where did they say all this?
  • I'm all for more Wii U and 3DS games, especially if it's physical releases of online-exclusive titles. I generally really enjoy what LRG is doing

This is pretty much how I feel too. I would like some games that only got released on Wii U or had special functionality that took advantage of the Wii U's control system, but I really hope  they don't just start pulling titles that already got LRG/retail Vita/PS4/Switch releases. If Axiom Verge is the only one, that's fine, because there's a bit of a story behind it. But if they keep doing it I likely won't be grabbing them unless it's a game I really wanted.

I mean, at this point what Wii U exclusive or centric games would you guys want? There's not too many worthwhile ones I can think of that weren't vastly different from other console versions.
  • It looks like the NA database is missing some of the recent Just Dance titles? Does anyone have a handy list of what a full US set consists of?

When and where did they say all this?

I'm curious where they said this as well since it's pretty much the exact opposite of their last announcement on the subject.

  • someone had asked Doug if there will be any limited run 3DS and more WII U e-shop games published my limited run? Doug said, "were definitely looking into it, especially after the loss of Vita"...then Doug chimed in some more and said..that Josh, had some kind of fascination and obsession with Wii U..he strongly believes it has a cult following like Dreamcast..so Josh is very interested in publishing Wii U eshop games..at least make some e-shop games physical...then during their Q & A session last week..the question was posed again and once again they both said "Yea for Nintendo 3DS/WII U where definitely looking into it"...then even at one point..LRG Josh said on social media..they needed to make up a revenue stream for losing out on VITA..they got stonewalled on PS3 releases for some rhyme or reason to about 5-10 releases max in totality....but Nintendo 3DS and Nintendo WII U were a lot more readily available and Nintendo was easier to get along with..so definitely 3DS and Wii U are a real possibility...besides Axiom Verge, again it's because LRG Josh thinks Wii U is akin to dreamcast..and it's "Nintendo" so it WILL SELL...i'm splicing together what Limited Run Doug and Limited Run Josh said in the past month or two...about 3DS and WII U...if you have twitter, ask a pointed question about it..and they will say "Yea, where looking into it"...i follow Limited Run games DAILY..i check their twitter EVERYDAY. and WATCH their video uploads etc..i'm a HUGE FAN...so i know definitely they said..there looking into 3DS and WII U games post AXIOM VERGE.
  • Where is the Dreamcast-like cult of Wii U collectors? Half the Wii U collectors I see online are like "Ughh no more games let it die" lol. "It's Nintendo so it will sell" seems like a much, much stronger argument to me.
  • Please God no.
  • I can see the Wii U/DC connection. The tablet controller is the natural evolution of the VMU.

Personally, I'd be happy with Wii U and 3DS releases IF they were interesting games that aren't already available in physical form on Switch.
  • I fail to understand how new releases for a console are bad. Aren't more games a good thing?
  • Here's my deal. The Wii U was great. Interesting new controller design, underappreciated library of games, etc. But everything that made it different has now been either retooled, completely surpassed by, or ported to the Switch, with very few exceptions. Its a dark part of Nintendo history that will be fun to discuss in several years, but honestly just needs to bow and tuck behind the curtain.
  • I don't understand the Wii U/Dreamcast comparison outside of the fact that both weren't smashing successes for either company (although I'd argue the Dreamcast would have continued to do well enough if Sega hadn't been forced to exit the hardware business).

Personally, I'm all for new Wii U releases assuming they are quality titles. I've been intentionally been holding off of getting Axiom Verge on other platforms because I'd prefer a physical copy on Wii U (LRG, if you are reading this, there you go).
  • Wii U came up for discussion with LRG as a plausible alternative, after for whatever reasons known to them..they were "stonewalled" on "infinite" number of PS3 releases to maybe 10 titles max...they assumed,..they could keep churning out PS3 titles till they turn blue in the face..as long as "blu ray discs" were in production..once they seen the HUGE difference in how many switch games they are selling (nintendo) vs. what they had been selling in the past (Sony) and alongwith..the constant chomping at the bit from the fans, begging and pleading for their 1 and only Wii U title thus far..they thought, wow..wii u could definitely be the ticket, to printing more money..same thing with 3DS...they trying hard for that too happen too!..i'm on board..i would be thrilled to collect limited edition 3DS games and Wii U titles..i think we should all welcome it!..we want variety and not just end up with switch fatigue.
  • The only reason some people don't want more Wii U releases is because it will make it more difficult to get a full set. It's a pretty backwards way of looking at it, but whatever. For everyone else, there is absolutely no downside to more Wii U games. If you don't care, or prefer the Switch, you don't have to buy the Wii U games.

If I'm honest I'd be pretty excited for Wii U LRG releases. Stuff like Fatal Frame V would be great to have on disc.

  • I don't really care the much but this is the first full set I've ever collected and don't want to be spending time and money collecting Just Dance and Disney shovelware games year after year. Maybe that goes to show how stupid it is to collect full sets, but if this LRG was a complete joke of a game it would have been annoying coming from them. I don't mind waiting to find a Just Dance game for $5 but if a shitty LRG came out and never went below a high retail amount then it would be a little more frustrating. However, I am somewhat excited about this release and look forward to playing this game for Wii U and think it's cool that it'll get a physical release on the system. I'm all for more releases if they are good games and not just a platform for LRG to make money by releasing crap games in limited quantities.
  • Well yeah I hope they would only release good games. I can't see it being worth it for them to release garbage. I don't think the Wii U collecting circle is very big at all. But like you said, as long as the games they release are good I'm all for it.

Also the point about collecting full sets is exactly why I can't see myself ever collecting for a full set of anything. A new game comes out and I'm pretty much forcing myself to buy it. Collecting should be fun, not a hassle. A new game coming out should be exciting, not stressful.
  • The way I see it, if you collect a full set for any system, in theory, you should be pretty passionate about that system or at least I would hope you would be. In that case, the idea of new games being released for the system should excite you. I can't see any reason why it wouldn't. Who cares if the games are crappy. You've already bought a bunch of crappy games for the system in order to get a full set in the first place. No system is without crappy games and the Wii U is no exception. The only other rational I can think of is that one might go for a full Wii U set because the set is very small. In this instance, I guess one wouldn't want new games released so that they don't have to buy anymore. But that in no way justifies being unhappy with LRG for releasing Wii U games.

    whats stressfull?

I dont have just dance the last 3 years. Not stressed about it one bit. Wil get them eventually.
  • Just Dance 2019 is $20 at Best Buy this week. For the original Wii too.
  • Not bad, but Im feeling single digits on that one
  • You poor fellas!

  • LRG putting the CEO of that publisher on full blast on Twitter today!

I don't think anyone should be sad that Wii U is getting a cool game. Seriously, one cool Wii U game is a huge boost to the library even if it's on every other platform. You can give more condolences when Ubisoft announces Just Dance 2020 at E3.

True! Would be cool if this was the final release!
