  • Strong. Confident. Noble. This Wire Fox Terrier showed up with one thing on mine and that was winning and biscuits! Champion AF. 12/10.
  • Why don't they have something like this for kitties?   I dunno, they might be those stuck up nose in the air diva sort of cats though...

They do it's the Super Cats Cat Show, they do it every year.

  • Whoever speaks to that dog should be using "Sir".

There is an international cat show, it's just not quite as high profile. They're kind of fun to watch, though.

Just look how crazy that lady looks, it just speaks volumes without even hitting play.

  • Oh, yeah. Watching the judges manhandle the cats is the best thing I've found so far today.

They get paid for this?! I been doing this shit for free for years.

  • Beagle wanna be, at least it is tricolor.
  • Not a fan of breeders and others that make money of animals like that. All my pets have been rescues.

There was in fact a beagle who won top honors at Westminster...and got to ride in the following Thanksgiving Macy's parade Snoopy float!

That is not fair!!  Kitties are man's real best friend and their show deserves just as much if not more love than that silly Westminster show featuring that other species

Yeah, that was 2015. That beagle's great uncle won seven years before that. You have to go back to the 30s for the last beagle.

  • I always find it interesting how the world has cat people and dog people and of course neither. But when you profile someone their personality reflects whether they are a dog person or cat person. Anyone know what I mean? Has there been profile studies on this or am I crazy? I do have close to 100 cats in my collection now.

Those people have alot of time and money invested, especially at that stage as it is most likely to be their full time profession. Those dogs and cats are more well taken care of than most of us could dream of for our pets, not for lack of love though. With that said, all my pets have been shelter animals or picked up strays. The real enemies are puppy mills and irresponsible owners who abandon instead of rehoming.
  • Well, I made sure my kitty was neutered...just for you Bob Barker. Just for you.

But what is up with these weird names they give cats at cat shows, with three or more words? How do they come up with these weird names? Why not just name them Fluffy or Mittens or something?   If I wanted to enter my best friend Jamiee in one, why can't I just enter him as Jamiee Cat?

You can name your animal whatever you want and enter it with that name. If your animal is registered with a club (and therefore eligible for that club's competition), there may be a limit on the number of animals within the club that can have the same name, so a unique name may be necessary.

Most champion level show animals incorporate the name of their kennel or breeder for branding. The beagle who won last, Tashtins Lookin for Trouble, aka Miss P (which is the name she responds to) was born in Tashtin kennel, so it's a way to get the name out there.

  • I seen a few clips of the CFA shows (that's the cats' version of Westminster right?) on YT and I must say, these cats are not quite as diva-ish as i figured! That's not to say there weren't some but there was one in particular who was in their cage with the ribbon attached to the front and the kitty was playing with the ribbon trying to bat it around with his/her wittle mittens! It was so cute! ^^ Also how come most of the cages already had blue ribbons on them? Is that from previous contests or something? And why did the Best in Show winner in the OP get a weird LSU colors ribbon? I thought first place gets a blue ribbon

Still can you imagine a "reality" show called Cat Divas and Ribbons?
  • The ones that had ribbons already were probably winners of their color class or breed class.

I dunno why LSU colors were used for best in show. Maybe to honor Mike the Tiger?

Is that anything like Tony the Tiger?    Maybe the human staff for these cats trash talk this way to each other and they "show 'em what their kitty can do"!

  • You've never heard of LSU's Mike the Tiger?

You don't need to spend several hundred or even over a thousand dollars on some diva show cat    As Bob Barker used to say, you can find a nice BFF like that at a shelter near your home.

You make some fair points, but in general I don't think much good comes from these shows. What about all the cats and dogs that "don't make the cut"? How many end up neglected or tossed out because they're "not winners"? Also, the thought that animals should be molded and then displayed like a piece of expensive clothing is wrong to me.
