  • Yeah was mentioned in the WTB thread, I assume the owner would make his way here. Comments said he wasn't selling prior to that.

  • Im always baffled that people can have this and have no idea what it is. Personally anybody with a semifunctioning brain can go "Hey this doesn't look like any of the other carts I have. I should look this up to see what it is"
  • Nice find, can imagine the owner was pretty shocked when he learned the value

Yeah, sorry,. I just saw it there. Didn't see it anywhere else and figured it was worth its own thread

The actual owner is in jail, and needs money apparently, so contacted his brother (OP on Reddit) and basically said "sell the shit in this storage unit for me". The NWC was in the storage.

  • Well he'll be able to buy plenty of cups of soup and packets of Folgers with the money he makes off that

Yeah agree it should have it's own thread, hopefully that person will chime in on this one.
  • Reddit is seriously an endless trove of misinformation. It is frustrating reading false comment after false comment. Social media is the fake news of the game collecting world.

I appreciate the guy who said to sell NWC in a NintendoAge forum auction with over 20 upvotes, lmao. I'm sure that would be smooth and drama free.

Or he could stash it in his san quentin wallet

He says on a forum - an early form of social media.

Some ended up in storage units and back corners of basements where they were forgotten. If you no longer keep up with anything video games, it might slip by.

My aunt had an NES that she used to play (and let her nieces and nephews play.) I asked her about it a couple years ago and she said, "Oh, that thing, it's in the crawlspace, I think. Haven't seen it since Bush Sr was elected."

That would be a tight fit, right along with daddy's wrist watch.

Impressive though these still get found like this, but not entirely surprising either.  The only surprise is how anyone can still be clueless given typing the name on the front alone will get you blown away with enough to know to tread carefully and ask the right questions.

  • This will probably keep happening for many decades 1 by 1. Look at Action Comics #1, or Honus Wagner cards. They keep popping up every so often.

Very amazing nonetheless and a big congratulations to the owner.
  • Dude wins Nintendo World Championships then BAM! 25 years later, taking up the butt in prison. Really makes you think...
  • I don't trust Reddit after what happened. Will use the NA link.
  • I am hoping to score this copy ..

  • It was sold to Pink Gorilla in Seattle

    Check out @MetalJesusRocks's Tweet:
  • Looks like Gamerboy needs to book a flight ticket to Seattle asap if he wants to graduate to Gamer-manhood!

I have a feeling there's gonna be a feeding frenzy over this one, unless Pink Gorilla have already got a buyer lined up.
  • They probably keeping it.

Big game stores don't let their gems go anymore because they function as advertising.

I'm looking at you Kill Screen Games, and Just Press Play...

Ain't that the truth! The big gamestore here in the Taipei main station has a bunch of interesting and rare stuff, all of which is technically for sale... But at prices at least double or triple what you'd pay even at the highest end on eBay.

Great tactic really, salt the store with amazing items to draw in the punters, then sell them a bunch of overpriced common shit as they try to cure their collector blue-balls!

I just received word from the folks at Pink Gorilla that they did not purchase it ,they only authenticated it .

  • Maybe then Metal Jesus Rocks? Or not. He commented, video on Tuesday for information.
