Anyone else not a fan of steel books?
It seems that every collectors edition comes with one of these and alot of people see them as a big deal. But whats the appeal really? Its just a tin case for the game rather than plastic and doesn't match any other case on the shelf, and most don't have spine information. That's my biggest gripe with them is the non-conformity to the rest of the library. I guess its just the ocd in me.

Give me a nice chunky cardboard box like MGS4 Limited Edition any day over thin plastic, thin metal, or thin cardboard boxes.
I love the look of them and wish they made them for more games. They're very artistic and aesthetically pleasing. They look much better than just a piece of plastic with cover art and a bunch of text and esrb ratings and whatnot
I agree theyre are very artistic and some are quite beautiful, but that lack of uniformity on a self! ughhhh drives me nuts!

I can see that. Steelbooks aren't the only collector's edition without uniformity. Legend of legacy, fire emblem echoes, bravely default, MegaMan legacy collection, and Pokemon sun and moon come to mind
Greater question here though: Why is everything a book? It's not a book, it's a case! And a notebook computer is a laptop, not a book! Why does everything with a hinge get called a book, is it more classy or something? IDK...
I agree it sucks when they get dented, but for some odd reason I love the things.
Except for Switch games. I don't use Switch cases at all, so those are wasted on me.
I'd be happier if I had the slip cover for my Valkyria Chronicles Remastered (PS4). Hint, hint.
