N64 game storage drawers

I’ve been thinking of picking up a n64 game storage drawer the 24 game model. What do you guys think about these? My friend had one back in the day but I never paid much attention to it back then.

  • I had one. It seemed "chinsey" to me. Kinda cheap quality.

Plus I like to display my games.
  • 24? What are you gonna do with the other 272?

What struck you as cheap? The materials or the fit and finish?

The whole thing really. Made cheap (put together with staples) with cheap material and the functionality of the drawer was faulty. You can pull the drawer too far out and the face of it will fall. Needed a stopper.

Neat item to have, but it isn't very sturdy as a game drawer. You are probably better off building your own.
  • I have two. If they're the same kind I'm thinking of...they're fun to have if you're a fan of N64 and like collecting odd things related to it but for actual useful storage? No, they're not that good. They only hold so many games and as someone has already said, they're made cheap and there's no stopper. One of the ones I have is broken inside because the quality is so cheap, it makes it hard to use.
  • I have a bunch of different ones, they are pretty cool IMO and yeah they are a little cheaply made like most 3rd party VG stuff lol. I have plenty with little physical wear though. Only thing I recommend is using epoxy to reglue the "box" part since they are pretty much all falling apart at the edges, or use high quality matching color black tape and you can make a sturdy one that way with no epoxy.
  • I think theyre not made very well and generally a pain in the ass to use
  • Lol I'll jump on the other side of the fence, I have several 24 sized ones of these and love them. I can put both N64 and SNES carts in them and with N64 top labels I'm feeling pretty nice and OCD organized lol.

I don't mind the quality, they aren't amazing, but I think they are just fine quality for their purpose. I have them on a short shelf going across the top and then use them as an additional shelf for Action Figures/Amiibos.

They are stackable too which is nice, and my Everdrive fits with the memory card no clearance issues. No complaints here after many years of use.
  • I have wanted one of these for years but I haven't found one cheap locally.

I wish I had known, I got some in the free section I believe and then I ended up sending them out free as well.
  • I have 1 and don't use it. they're made to store cart only, and since there's no top label on N64 carts, you can't tell which game you're looking at without pulling them out (exceptions being the colored plastic carts).
  • Is this the licensed one that is vinylish wrapped particle board with a plastic door with two columns of slots and along the front a black sticker with the N64 logo? If so I have the PS1 version of it and it's very handy and nicely made for cheap quality storage goods. That I have also makes a space in one side for memory cards and on the other side for one double size case.
  • I like them, before when I had a larger room I had the entire collection in them. Great to stack!
  • I'm not a fan. You have to have double the footprint to pull the drawer out and access the carts in the back. Otherwise the drawer will dangle and lever on the plastic rails until something breaks, especially when loaded with heavy carts.

Even in the Nintendo-branded ones, the slots were made to fit everything prior including Genesis and SNES, which means they don't fit anything particularly well. This adds insult to injury if you have to hold the drawer up while accessing games in the back, since getting one out will jostle others out of position and you now have both hands full. Sometimes you'll be unable to close it and you end up having to put the cart you wanted back in to free up a hand and straighten everything. By the time you're done struggling with that, you're probably cursing and swearing already... only to have it happen again when you try to slip the game out from behind other games.

    Grrr...

I gave some away to a couple flea market vendors recently but I know I have more around somewhere... big and small.

Yep exactly, that is what mine are and they are great.  Now I'm wondering if the complaints might be for a different brand?  I guess mine just do their job, and are awesome.  I'd take more of them if I could lol.

The exact same storage cases were sold under multiple brands, licensed and unlicensed. The N64 ones typically have a little tray in there with three almost-inperceptible notches. That lets you stow a controller in the tray, which uses a lot of the capacity but can help you keep games away from the back where they cause the most issues.
