  • Never liked much pop music that mainstream media shoves down your throat. I gave them a 2, there not the worst thang ever.

I dont like linkin park, but calling them pop music? Thats a stretch. Their stuff right before that dude killed himself maybe but definitely not 90 percent of their stuff.

  • Via the descriptions provided by the OP, I voted a 4; I think I'd be between it or a 5 though.

I never listened to this band growing up, I listened to the songs posted by the OP, some of them I've heard over the years in passing, and a few were totally new to me. The thing is I'm not really a big fan of this sort of music; the instruments are good, but there is too much speaking / rappish (?) parts for me. I'd prefer just solid singing TBH.

I do quite like the songs "Leave out all the Rest" and "Shadow of the Day" though, so I'd imagine that if I listened to their whole discography, I'd find a dozen or so songs that I'd quite like.
  • 2.

I was very tempted to vote 1.

I am absolutely serious. I can't fucking stand LP. Insincere vapid meaningless word-salad lyrics. I can't stand being forced to listen to it.

    Seconded.

No, just because “craaaawling in my skiiiin” is figurative doesn’t make it “deep.” Just because they’ve got cool sounding studio music when they scream and they break into a rap so they don’t sound like babies doesn’t mean they aren’t whining insufferably. They’re still whiney babies.

    Pop is short for popular.

They were mega-popular, much to my chagrin.

Seriously though: would you prefer he called it what it is? “Mainstream-alternative Emo-rap”

  • Here's an idea: If you voted 4 or lower and you really meant it, post an example of what you like that you might want to expose a Linkin' Park fan to.

  • Monumental band of pioneers? Thanks I needed a good laugh.
  • There gonna be a prize at the end?
  • After hearing this not much else stacks up.

    This!

Here's something I'd rather listen to:

...and here's an album I'd rather listen to:

  • Only on NA can one thread become a spin off of another thread, I lurv youse guise.
  • Saw them live on their Hybrid Theory tour. Haven't followed along much since. Really enjoyed that first album.
  • Some of the feedback here is disappointing...Linkin Park was a great band to a lot of people. Of course they didn't appeal to everyone, but they shouldn't get the Nickelback treatment lol.

Huge Linkin Park fan back in the day, sure my interests have matured now but they were crazy popular back in the day. The vocals, light rap mix, beats/electric effects, along with their music videos were awesome.

The Collision Course album was surprisingly really good too.

To call them whiners would open the door to slap that same label on a whole lotta popular bands from that generation.

For the haters, look at this top 15 list/videos - it's legit:

  • I gave them a 4.

They have some really awesome stuff I like (Don't Stay and the Pts Of Athrty remix), but they also have some cringey stuff that makes me change the station.

*foed* 0 is the correct responce, and there is no prizes so screw this...

  • I will concede that Linkin Park is every bit as good as Limp Bizkit. Which I also saw live on the Summer Sanitarium Tour.

I judge bands on how well the perform live. They may have a good sound on the album, but if they can’t do it live then they are not good.
  • I'm not really a fan of LP, but to be fair, I'm not a fan of most of the bands of that era. Chester had a good voice, though.

I have no problem opening that door. There are a lot of whiners from that era and I feel LP deserves a lot of the blame for making it “cool.”

    Edit:

Talent! This guy reproduces Cinema in real-time with no synthesizers and only sampling his own voice (no instruments or pre-recorded samples).
  • Hybrid Theory was good when I was 17-18 years old. The problem with Linkin Park was that as their fans grew up, they didn't. That's kind of why emo and most punk died off from the early 2000's.

I saw them live twice (because they were openers / mid tier acts), and both times they sounded like pure shit.

I give them 2/10, only because they were highly successful, so a good chunk found them good (at least at the time)
  • Tallying up their score tonight
  • Reminds me of my old coworker that had a playlist of 8 songs with 6 of em being linkin park.
  • Any guesses as to who I have lined up for volume 2? I'm aiming for polarizing figures...

    Does it rhyme with Krickkystack?

    GWAR?
  • I like their stuff despite the screaming for no reason sections that inevitably show up to detract from the song.

(Screeching in metal is fucking stupid and ruins what would otherwise be an incredible genre) don't @ me

That is like me with the growl/cookie monster vocals, I just "can't" do it.
