Konami 50 Anniversary

Did anyone see this yesterday. Konami is going to release a series of collections on the major systems for its 50 anniversary.

It's digital only, which means in 6 month to a year it will probably be picked up for limited physical release. I'm just curious how people feel about this? I feel like people are goimg to be really happy about it.

Personally i'm a little torn. There's a couple Contra and Castlevania games that I don't have, and I still need Gradius ll. But would a physical release of this be worth buying if I already have 90% of the games?
I think I've gotta pass at some point. Do I really need to pay $35 when these become physical for emulators and trophys? If they wanted to do something for their 50th anniversary they could release a video game. This just seens lazy kn their part and a waste of my money.

  • Looks kind of like the same kind of retro compilations we've been getting forever, not that they don't look like a good value. I thought Haunted Castle was cool to see in the US, but it looks like that's been on PS4 for a couple years. Even if a physical version is released stuff like this screams bargain bin to me, not retro collectible.

Also, lmao did they really replace Simon's Quest with Belmont's Revenge? Come on man.
  • Konami seem happy to separate the bundles from different franchises. Personally I'd be more interested if they compiled the best of the best retro games from their inventory. Here are some of my top Konami faves and I would be close to orgasmic if seeing these games in the one bundle and with extra bonus features:

    - Super Castlevania IV

    - Castlevania SOTN

    - Parodius (any from the SNES/Saturn/PS1)

    - Mystical Ninja SNES

    - Contra 3

    - Axelay

    - Turtles in Time

    - Snatcher Mega/Sega CD
  • I don't think they went with Belmont's Revenge to be cheap or something. It might have been a thoughtful decision. Simon's Quest is a bit of a black sheep and Belmont's Revenge looks more like a action platformer in line with 1 and 3.
