  • What do we call what James Labrie has been doing for the last 25 years?

(Screeching in metal is fucking stupid and ruins what would otherwise be an incredible genre) don't @ me

That is like me with the growl/cookie monster vocals, I just "can't" do it.

It's cringeworthy, man. Takes me right out of the music. Growl/screeching over badass insrtumentals is the equivalent of mumble rapping over badass beats... Just plain garbage

  • I gave LP a 4 for full disclosure. I'm trying to be something of an impartial selection maker as far as who I choose, so it will be stuff I like, don't like, have no strong opinions of, etc

He has his off nights that's for sure but that guy can fuckin "sing".

There aren't many vocalists who can sing with that range who don't experience some sort of difficulties over 30 years.

Gotta remember he had destroyed his vocal chords on the Awake tour after food poisoning.

I wouldn't want anyone else in that band singing.
  • "Off nights"

They replaced that creepy fuck Portnoy, so I'm sure they could drag Khan, Matt Barlow or Ripper Owens out of retirement and put Labrie out of his misery

Yeah but you don't "do" shit like that man, to them he is the voice of their band and they wouldn't kick him out, he'd have to leave himself or die.

Only guy with the talent and charisma to replace Labrie is Sebastian Bach, but he's too busy smokin dope and playing with model trains. Thats how he became a champion.
  • Wait a minute... trains... Patrick Swayze... kitten fucking...

Did I somehow miss an entire damn season?
  • Missin seasons ya B? Eh you wanna buy a pipe?

Wow. I was just about to write that all of their songs sound like they're intended for mopey 14 year olds but you beat me to it.

My thoughts exactly. Did they kind of lose their "formula" with their last few albums? Yes... but Hybrid Theory and Meterora were darn near perfect. Chester has such a clean scream. Sonically, their studio sound was top notch. I don't expect them to get an 8+ based on their full body of work but a 4 is insulting.

    Evanescence? Rick Astley?

    Edit: Michael Jackson.
  • I enjoy more LP songs than I thought.

I listened to Fort Minor and enjoyed Mike Shinoda on the mic. The album with "Remember The Name" and "Where'd You Go?" was excellent, including those two songs. Less/no screaming, though.

After listening to One More Light, I realized they were pretty good and I liked more songs.

Unfortunately, that was after Chester's death... I prefer the songs without screaming (Chester had a good voice and One More Light is quite chilling given the circumstances), but some of those I like too. I like some of the tracks from the crossover album with Jay Z, too.

    I said 6.
