It finally happened

After all these years of collecting snes games it finally happened I got ripped off on a fake game. At least it wasn't an expesive one though. It was earthworm jim 2 I paid $20 for it on Ebay. I didn't notice for a few months. I just tossed it aside until recently I went to play it. I was looking for the game locally but gave up after a few months and went to ebay.

  • Repros are getting dangerously overloaded these days. What annoys the hell out of me is that Ebay allows the repro sellers to list them as "brand new", and casual gamers/buyers can easily be fooled.

You didn't notice the fake game when you first got it in the mail? Always check your games when you recieve them to make sure they are legit while you clean them. Sorry you got duped, but you should always check/clean your games. You would have been able to file a return with eBay.

That's actually faily helpful to weed them out. If a game is listed as "brand new" but it's $20 you know it's a fake.

But you're right, casuals are getting screwed left and right.

  • It happened to me once also. An individual sold me a fake copy of FF3 Snes Factory sealed New. I checked it and notified the seller immediately that it was a fake. Luckily he was nice, I returned it and and he refunded me my money immediately.

Would you mind posting pics of the label and board?

  • It's just how it is now, have to accept it as fighting it gets you nowhere. The very act of more and more people jumping in because of the money they created behind it feeding into it all for years now along with cheapening prices with advancing technique and technology now allows for exterior perfect copycats for little money. If there was no motive no one would bother. The only way left it could get worse would be someone figuring out how to duplicate the boards and chips the same too, then it's entirely all over.
  • you can probably still return it months later with EBAY's ridiculous return policies.
