i did ghoul school last week but i forgot to post, i had never beat the game before and i used arnpoly's walkthru from his website it was pretty quick finish
Just got to chapter 5 in dragon warrior 4. Which seems like a lot of progress except that chapter 5 is the longest by far. Still, should be finished this week because I have no life.
TMNT beaten. Even using a guide, that was an annoying one to beat for only 3 points. I can't imagine a little kid beating it.
I think most of us didn't get very far in it back in the day, let alone beat it lol. I remember it felt impossible back then.
Nowadays as an adult, I think TMNT isn't too hard to beat when compared to a lot of other NES games. It's all about knowing exactly where to go, and loading up on some scrolls. That moving spiked walls section can be a real pain though, as can the final corridor in the Technodrome with those jetpack guys.

Yeah, it was much easier after making sure everyone had some boomerangs for the final part. I never played it as a kid so I don't have the nostalgia for it that others do; I just see it as a crappier Getsu Fuuma Den (although looking at my avatar, I might be a little biased).
I'm capable of beating Bart vs. the World and Bart Meets Radioactive Man - guess I found my weekend project... I also have gotten really close to beating Abadox. All childhood games I played.
Nope, it doesn't. So beating 100 stages is our goal for it. It's actually really easy, especially since you can just sit still and the walls will turn to exits after a minute or so. And it was a 4 player game, so there's plenty of food for a single player. It's still boring to complete though, since you're gonna be playing it for about 2 hours to get to that point.
After almost 2 months I finally have earned $1,000,000 in NES Open Tournament Golf. I'm too tired to write/post my blog entry tonight, but, once I do I'll post the link with the photo in this thread.
Halfway through Level 8 on Michael Andretti's World GP tonight. Glad to be done with Level 7 and have manual control over my gear shift once again. Because of that 8 is going much faster. I even got a few really lucky races in a row where my rival scored incredibly poorly and in one race didn't even make the qualifying time so he scored 0 for the round. That's gonna give me a big edge late in the level and let me really whiff it on a few races if I need to.
Congrats, Hoskat, on beating NES Open! While we're a bit behind on overall number of completions, I'm feeling pretty good on overall progress given how many of the really long, tedious games have already fallen off the list. That pretty much leaves the first Bases Loaded and Roger Clemens MVP Baseball as the last of the time-sink sports games, and I will play through Clemens again later this year unless someone is really burning for it.

I don't think I've beaten Roger Clemens yet. If you don't want to play it I can get to it in a couple months or so.
I really don't mind it too much, crabby. It plays like a poor man's RBI Baseball, and since I collected baseball cards in that era I know the real names of pretty much every player in the game (and I get a small kick out of those knockoff names they had to use since they didn't have a license with MLB or the MLBPA).
But speaking of slogs, what's next for you after that racing game?
Just finished Dragon Warrior 4. Also an excellent game. I actually was debating whether or not I like it more than DW3. I think if they had allowed control of all 4 characters in the NES version, DW4 would probably have it. For now though, it's second fiddle.

Thanks! I defintely am not looking forward to Bases Loaded (any of the 4) or Roger Clemens or really any of the other golf games. So glad to have this one in my rearview.

Nothing specifically planned yet. Probably play a couple shorter games though as a palate cleanser before I deep dive into something else so time consuming. Usually just take a look at the list and see what's a neglected game that I also havn't beaten yet. Speaking of that racing game I finished Level 8 tonight so I'm on the longest and finalist level of them all now. It's my weekend so I'll get back to it on Sunday night and since it's such a long level it'll probably take me two more sessions to complete.
Christ was this game hard to get through! It's probably a top-3 for me that I've beaten on the NES as far as overall difficulty.
The platforming controls are a joke. Like, if you lose the wings at the 3-4 major platforming parts in this game, you're dead. And if you don't make it to the final boss w/o at least the boomerang (2nd highest weapon power-up) I feel like you have little-to-know chance of beating him.
^There is no end screen in this game, and it quickly loops back to the 1st level upon taking out the final boss Bee. So this is a pic of 1-1 with the high points right after I beat the Bee.

Happy to be of service!

TMNT is awesome, you're crazy.

Not when you factor in broken controllers, stress-related hospital visits, etc...

I like his positive spin on my complaint, lol. Got nearly done Level 7 tonight. Hopefully finish that off tomorrow and get started into level 8.
Doesn't Gauntlet 2 never end?
Really cool thread.
megaman would cry doing this boss rush.
since theres no timer, biggest thing is pattern and patience.
and getting the right order of letters makes all the difference between getting an awesome robot and getting a derp.

Going to jump into Fire N Ice next.
