can you get into trouble for doing this?

  • At 16 you're expected to be a jackass, at 31 you should be over it
  • I get that at 16 you're expected to be a dumbass, I just don't get why people can be nonchalant about it. Like a recent incident in my hometown: some middle school kid threw a rock at a window of a movie theater that is completely staffed by adults with mental and developmental disabilities DURING THE DAY WHILE IT WAS OPEN. Until it was revealed who did it, people are screaming what an atrocious hate crime it was, but as soon as people find out it was some teenager, the mood changes to "he made a dumb mistake."

I'm not saying the kid's life should be ruined forever, but it's so frustrating how instead of having an overwhelming sense of "I fucked up and I am so lucky to be forgiven that I will work so hard to redeem my reputation", these kids have a smug "lols my parents will take care of it, no big" attitude.

Sorry for the rant, it just takes me back to when my classmates got off of a slew of crimes from plagiarism, bashing mailboxes and drunk driving to assault, burglary and witness tampering and there were virtually no consequences.
