Plus they are likely stopping at strongholds along the way (as they did the Umbers). The characters go on to say that anything North of Winterfel is now part of the army of the dead. I'm sure there are mini battles happening along the way, and they'll stop (albeit briefly) to reanimate those new corpses (and make little art projects, apparently).
The scouts had one job - bring news back to Winterfel as soon as humanly possible. The army of the dead has a few other things on their to-do list. Likely the scouts had horses, too (their method of travel is not shown).

Good points, I think they did show up with horses. I guess beyond normal war strategies, it seems these walkers (particularly the Night King) have unnatural powers so I pictured it being a challenge to circle around an army of ~1 million walkers, undead giants, and a dragon
Alt Shift X, the really good breakdown dude on youtube of game of thrones in his live Q&A last night kept harping on the fact that the dragons should be already mowing them down. While I will agree the dragons are your biggest weapon. She only has 2, and they have 1. There are a ton of white walkers they showed at the end of last episode. All holding those ice spears. They easily got 1 dragon with a spear north of the wall. Think of all those spears being thrown at hte dragons. Theyd be taken out real quick. So just using the dragons to mow them down while they are all leading the march with what looks like dozens of what walkers probably isnt the smartest plan.
? Cmon man so many reuniting characters. Reveals to certain characters. This is game of thrones what show habe you been watching. Without these moments action and death mean nothing. It makes the show good. You already knew what these were going to be about. I said last week episode 2 is going to end with them approaching and right before battle. It didnt make it any less great of an episode.

The army of dead is slowly marching toward Winterfell absorbing all that stand in their way into its army. None of it filmed. We are expected to just guess at that. Instead all the small details that don’t take much guessing at all are all laid out in great detail in a two episode stall of what everyone has been waiting for since the end of season 7.
So in other words you would have been happier if they had extended season 7 to 10 episodes instead of the 7 and hashed it all out quickly? Pretty sure that would have been a big rushed let down as we've been following these characters and their relationships for half a decade to be honest. Now the 2 year wait...not a fan of that but so far happy with the quality.
No I’m not saying that.
People have been attacked by the dead since the end of season 7 we just haven’t seen it.

I’m glad you guys enjoy it. I really am. As for what I want. At first I loved this show but honestly at this point I just can’t wait for it to be over.
You had two years for your suspense then follow it up with two episodes where nothing new is revealed no action and no shocking moments that the show was once famous for. I played iPad games for most of it. If it was in a theater I’d have fallen asleep.
The good news is that finally finally we might get somewhere this Sunday. They have a lot of ground to cover and only what 4 episodes to do it so hopefully hopefully the rest of the way will be fun.

Nothing new is revealed? you have character arcs coming full circle. The characters learned what we learned. THAT HAD TO HAPPEN!! So much actually happened that matterd its not even funny. If they ignored all these interactions that would have made a terrible show. Fans have been waiting for these encounters for years. Game of Thrones isnt an action thriller. Its a political drama with great climax action.
you played ipad games during the episodes? LMAO its like we are watching 2 different shows. If you dont like the last 2 episodes you really just dont like game of thrones. I cant watch shows with people like you. Ive experienced it, dont pay attention playing games. Typically ask a question mid show that they would have known if they just watched. Its similar to watching a sports playoff game with people who dont care about sports. Awful
lol we might get somewhere sunday? oh you mean the climax battle where all this character arc completion is warranted to actually make it mean something.

Well I wasn’t day dreaming during the red wedding episode. Hopefully we with both enjoy the rest of the season.
I get it Adam, you want the action to go down. I can't remember if it was mentioned here or elsewhere but I believe the battle at Winterfell is like 30-40 minutes of straight battle awesomeness .
I agree with you Quest, we had to see these character arcs circle back around and all the interactions and relationships that have been building or torn apart since the earlier seasons made it feel complete in the building block sense.
Man it sure is safe in the crypt, good thing they went into great detail who's down there too. I'm sure they'll be safe in the safe crypt when the necromancer comes to visit...you know the crypt where they keep the dead people, safe and secure.
Also, why did Tyrion ask if Cercei lied about the pregnancy???? Is my Circei / Tyrion conspiracy theory coming true? Hmm...
Also, was it me or was the night king not in the audience with his army of the dead? And the dead dragon.....where he at? I bet they're going south to Kings Landing. Remember when John made it a POINT to say "There's over a million people in that place, that's more than the entire north" also remember when they stole the dragons and we had a vision of the castle blown up with it snowing inside?
Hmm...
I bet the entire rest of the show is going to take place in Winterfell with a second dead army rising up from the south.

Killer analysis. I have a group of peeps at work and they have been dissecting everything and you hit the nail on the head on many things.
Yep no NK in Winterfell from what we know so far, good chance he went South to KL - deep theories suggest the NK is after a baby (as his main character has been focused on taking babies for his army/successor in seasons past). Possible pregnances are Cersei (idk?) and Dany (likely). The NK has some fondness for Jon Snow as well, and Bran thinks he is coming after him to have a continuous night or whatever if the NK takes over the world.
OMG I am jacked up to see how the Crypts play out next week - that might be cynical to say but it can't fare well for our Winterfell peeps.
The last point about the vision of the castle destroyed with snow inside...crucial! That was actually circulating in email earlier and most certainly is a factor to consider.
The only variables I can't account for is the Golden Horde, and Melisandre (The lord of Lights High Pristess)
Also, the lord of light.
We have a night king, and the lord of light makes a nice polar opposite, and is demonstrably real within the realm of the show.
Melisandre can vouch for Jon Snow when it comes to needing more proof that he's the true heir to the throne...of course Dany can just burn him and be shocked when he doesn't burn.
Melisandre can say "the lord of light has protected him" or something to those lines.
That's one variable out of the way...I guess the Golden Horde is good to help Circei escape either to the southern isles (leaving the series on a semi cliffhanger) or they just serve to protect her for one episode and she'll ultimately die at the hand of the night king.
I don't see 4 episodes as long enough for all possible fights to be resolved.
Dany vs. Jon Snow needs to happen.
Iron Throne winner vs. Night King needs to happen.
Winterfell vs. Army of the Dead needs to happen.
But Winterfell vs. Kings Landing doesn't HAVE to happen...neither does Cleganebowl.
If they are going to put so much screen time in for Tormund's Brienne crush....they must make Cleganebowl happen! If the Hound survives Sunday night, you know it's on
If they are going to put so much screen time in for Tormund's Brienne crush....they must make Cleganebowl happen! If the Hound survives Sunday night, you know it's on
Even if the Hound doesn't survive, Cleganebowl COULD still happen... just with a decidedly zombie twist.
Anyone get the vibe that Arya was trying to get some action on the Hound but gave up after she realized it was gross?
She went from the top of the watch, to the lower levels closer to Gendry...I get the feeling she's gonna die soon because you don't live your life a virgin and give all that up for a one night stand unless it REALLY means you think you're dieing.
Also, wtf happened to Pod. He's giving ol' Bobby Baratheon a run for his money on the scale side of things.

I still think Arya will kill Cercei sometime, somewhere, somehow

Arya will finish her off but only after Cercei strikes first.

Arya will be here after episode 3. She still has a story to tell and Cersei to kill.

How do we know she’s actually Arya tho!!!!
But yeah, they would have killed her if she didn’t have any story left.

No way Arya dies soon. I mean I know the show and book are different but is anyone more capable of killing then Arya? I’m more curious why she is fighting with a double headed spear since she’s never used one but I guess it goes back to see she a bamf

It makes tactical sense at least - she is small of stature and quick on her feet. As far as anyone is aware you simply have to jab a white walker with dragon glass and they basically crumble right? So what she really needs is reach to pair with her agility.

It didnt make it any less great of an episode.
To future watchers. Watch these episodes they are good.
People have been attacked by the dead since the end of season 7 we just haven’t seen it.
lets be honest....you dont know what you want . lolol.
Its called suspense.

I agree with you Quest, we had to see these character arcs circle back around and all the interactions and relationships that have been building or torn apart since the earlier seasons made it feel complete in the building block sense.
Man it sure is safe in the crypt, good thing they went into great detail who's down there too. I'm sure they'll be safe in the safe crypt when the necromancer comes to visit...you know the crypt where they keep the dead people, safe and secure.

Ep 3 (1 hour 22 minutes)
Ep 4 (1 hour 18 minutes)
Ep 5 (1 hour 19 minutes)
Ep 6 ( 1 hour 19 minutes)
If they are going to put so much screen time in for Tormund's Brienne crush....they must make Cleganebowl happen! If the Hound survives Sunday night, you know it's on
Even if the Hound doesn't survive, Cleganebowl COULD still happen... just with a decidedly zombie twist.
Anyone get the vibe that Arya was trying to get some action on the Hound but gave up after she realized it was gross?

I still think Arya will kill Cercei sometime, somewhere, somehow

Arya will finish her off but only after Cercei strikes first.
Sansa would be my pick to go before either one.

Arya will be here after episode 3. She still has a story to tell and Cersei to kill.

How do we know she’s actually Arya tho!!!!
But yeah, they would have killed her if she didn’t have any story left.

Not sure If anyone is capable of getting to Arya but I heard that Chris Hansen is after Gendry !

Have we forgotten how Arya was trained lol
