Why human teeth on a hedgehog?

Why have fur on a hedgehog? Did Snuffaluffagus fuck a smurf?

Gangsters Paradise was the best part of this trailer

  • I'd take my daughter to see this.

Has to be better than your average pony and dog movie.

I'm banking on this to be true, because I'm hoping that my kinds won't want to go see it.  Luckily, they just discovered Pokemon.

Sonic Boom depending on what cartoon channel your kids watch, but that might be a couple years old now too.

  • I've seen so many people share this on my Facebook that are all fired up about it that are just 90s kids that aren't crazy collector people.
  • Looks a lot better then I expected
  • Sonic ain't for adults, this is good enough to keep a child entertained for 2 hours and I love it for that.

YOU FRIKKEN FRICKS CAN NEVER BE QUENCHED!! YOUR FANTASIES CAN NEVER BE QUENCHED
  • His legs are at least as creepy as his teeth.

It really was. But of all songs. A lot of kids don't even know who Coolio is.

I think they're trying so hard to bank on nostalgia at this point. That song was #1 at the height of the 16 bit console wars as the theme track to Dangerous Minds. Their target audience can't be kids, but adults in their 30's and 40's who were around during the hype of Sonic.

If they put Regulators in this movie, I'll 100% go see it.

  • I didn't hear any Coolio song, heard some Weird Al though.
  • People need to remember that Sega gets great pleasure out of disappointing Sonic fans.
  • I'm not the target audience and i'm angry about that rabble rabble rabble
  • There is a serious reason why movie producers often change classic designs when incorporating existing properties into their movies, related to profit rather than creative or practical constraints. Basically, it is all about brand differentiation. The people at Paramount marketing their Sonic movie want to make absolutely sure that when you see movie Sonic and you buy movie Sonic, you KNOW you are getting movie Sonic. They will get a cut of revenues from merchandise branded with THEIR version of Sonic, but if the already existing Sonic merch gets a boost in sales, they see none of it.

This is exactly why, since the 90's and before, every time they've taken a classic property from TV, toys, videogames, comics, wherever, movie companies butcher them beyond all recognition. They get to own a piece of the mutated offspring, which they can then wring profit out of.
  • As someone who grew up with Sonic on the Genesis in the 90s, I can't wait to see how much of a trainwreck this movie is. The worse it is, the better. It's a movie that I am actively rooting against but will be going to see (trashed) in the first week it releases...

I'm not even sure I want to watch the trailer. I almost feel it would be better to be blindsided by how terrible it is when I see the movie.
  • Yikes and I thought the 2016 Ghostbusters were ugly (that's BOTH outside and in)
  • Man, they got it all wrong.  Sonic has greasy white arms, not blue ones.

  • As noted, the movie is aimed at little kids, not nerdy adults that like to complain that a kid's movie doesn't meet their Avengers-Star Wars-Dinsneyesque expectations

That said, I do feel like playing a Sonic game now, so I suppose the advertising is working... oh, and I don't think a link to the trailer was actually posted... here it is

  • Please tell me that trailer/Sonic is a late April Fool's joke...
  • I dunno, I think it looks pretty good!
  • I think it looks horrifically great. Can't wait to see this one, in all its horror, but I'm a masochist like that.

I hope not. I hope that it is there for much longer because they did a good job with it...

Imagine if they actually did put in a subtle Chris Chan reference. They won't, but good god that would be brilliant if they did.

Isn't this movie meant for kids?

There's an indictment of nerd culture in here somewhere.

  • I think kids' entertainment receives enough underthought dreck as it is. Even they deserve better character design than that. idk, I won't be seeing it but that first draft is pretty bad.

So far, at least no one seems to be complaining about the plot.
