DOUBLE UPDATE: FOUND by rlh! WOW!! UPDATE: It was lost Game Boy NFR Game Shipped in a Regular White
Has anyone had this happen to them before? I am guessing the seller was new or something as it was his first ever sold item, but some reason he used a regular white envelope to ship a very rare Game Boy Color NFR game in a white envelope with Canada Post. I received the envelope in my mailbox a few days ago and one side was torn open and it was empty (the middle torn part was me as I was confused what was this). I am just shocked like...what the hell is going on? I am also feeling like he maybe never even sent it, but it says he paid 3.12 in postage, so something was in there. I messaged him about it waiting for a response. Don't know what to do now.

This is the game lost/stolen so if anyone did spot one like this with the back sticker with similar wear, most likely it is this one.

Hope this one resolves in your favour, anyway, looks pretty open and shut to me!
What is weird though is why would they put it in my mailbox it if was opened and empty? They would alert me ahead right?
See what the seller says, but it does look like someone stole it, but from the look of the cut, I wouldn't rule out an accidental cut/rip that led to the game falling out...?
Either way, how much did you pay for the game? Unless you got a super crazy bargain at 1$, it doesn't seem like an acceptable way of shipping an expensive game. Then again maybe it was wrapped in bubble wrap.
I've had a package arrive empty, crushed and open at my office some time ago, mailman was almost gone (without saying anything!) but I manaed to stop him in time to ask a few things. So yeah, not surprised they left the letter and left like batman. I immediately thought of theft or accidental damage, but it turned out from the weight of the package printed on the slip that the package had been sent empty. Managed to solve that one after many months with the seller...
Suggest you to keep super cool with the seller -- getting up in flames won't make your game appear magically anyway. Hopefully you can at least get a full refund.
Thanks for the replies. So it does happen receving empty stuff without any warning. Yikes. Will see what resolution we can come up with.
To answer questions, yeah it was near $100, so definitely would have counted for some far decent packing. For Game Boy Color, I only needed this one, and Donkey Kong Country.

Wait, what the fuck
Second, this is not supposed to happen. I know the "world" of resold games is very VERY thief-ish but not at this point.
This mean the mail security is not adequate for even to someone to sell something.

I'm not saying this was preventable but I can say that after hearing about this and the infamous CIB Magic Piano, I try to do my best to be assured that my stuff doesn't get trashed in shipping.
I'm really sorry OP. Hopefully you'll get your money back and find another one. I've waited a long time to find some rare games, found one, and literally within a week found another. In that specific case, the new listing was in even better condition.
I once bought some books on the Frisian language, and at some point along the way, the package got torn open and I just received an empty envelope.
If the guys new he probably didn't know better. Even my folks ask me to help them pack stuff, as they rarely mail items but know I've sent clay tea pots around the world and back again without a scratch.
Hey the refund, and if the guy works with you, don't ding his feedback. Offer him a kindly advice and move on.

Sound advice for anybody new to the hobby as well. Leaving a neg on someone's account should be reserved for only the worst scenarios.
Maybe it's just me but I ship just about everything in a box, it may cost more but it seems more professional even though I don't sell much stuff on Ebay. For you folks doing real numbers on Ebay I could understand trying to save a couple bucks.
There's a big gap between shipping in a secure box and this. Like dude could've at least sprung the dollar for a padded mailer and maybe put a couple little cardboard sheets in there to protect it, or something. There's just no effort less than the one put forth here, short of writing the shipping info on the game itself.
I called the post office and asked them to talked to there delivery person. The postal worker looked for the game and found it.
Have you contacted the post office? Do so if you havent.
Skorp, I feel for you on this one. Sorry for your loss
Also...he knows that the world is very "thief-ish" but not at this point? What does that even mean? It's dangerous out there...but also it's totally fine out there!
Dude's name is Francois, spelled with the accent and everything. I'm sure that was an English fail of some kind.
Y'all need to give this guy a break... first time selling something, it's international shipping, an obvious language barrier, etc. He simply tried to save $15-$20 (over 10% of the value) on shipping and got burned likely because someone stole it along the way. Simple as that. I've had it happen and it's really frustrating. For all the seller knows, Skorp could have opened this, took the game and then started a claim saying it arrived the way it did. It's probably just as likely from his perspective (no offense Skorp) as it is that someone stole it along the line. As Skorp said above, just unfortunate for the seller and himself as the seller is out of pocket and Skorp is out the game.
Agree 100% on this, been on both sides before, stuff happens.
And yeah Quaze, you're totally right that it was a language barrier. I was super groggy when I read the thread this morning, and that was silly of me to post. I got riled up by the contradiction and jumped on it
Did send him a kind message but also explained to him why an envelope was just not a good idea especially for a video game as it is very easily to be seen if you press down on the evelope, which probably someone did see it.
