CIB Donkey Kong Jr (3 screw)

Just curious what a fairly minty copy would bring?

Comments

  • Well, there's no set price for that kind of rare bird. I was personally surprised to see BellaBlack's 3 screw cart copy sell for just a bit over $50, when we see Donkey Kong 3 screw selling all the way for $35 when it's like ten times easier to find than DK Jr 3 screw.

I would say a nice copy with a Non-Hangtab box would bring $250+.
  • I would agree. CIB at around 250.

Are you currently bidding on one?

    Nope.

After the cart only 3-screw went for around $50, it just made me wonder what the matching pieces would go for.

  • I think there's only like 5 or 6 known non-hangtab boxes in the hands of NA members. I got one but it's only about a 7.5/10 and I'm not sure if any of them are MINT? Maybe Erik has one...
  • Yep any DK JR in high grade is worth GOOD money to begin with, and combine with essentially two variants (box and cart are toughies) you've got an easy $200. But it's all about condition.

That said I have a non-mint non-HT DK Jr box for anyone who'd like one on a budget image

  • So there's 2 of them, who else has them? I think burdger may have one too for some reason.
  • I have a lead a non HT CIB DK Jr. It's a solid 9/10
  • Yes, I have one, and as soon as my 3 screw gets here, I'll have it CIB image
  • I have it CIB...I think I was either 1st or 2nd to be known to have one. I had the cart from a random trade at another website (where I'd given a value more appropriate for a 5-screw cart, something like $6, as I had no idea it was rare), and I bought NoFriendo's box for $140 (outbidding several known big spenders in the process). Picked up a 5-screw cart and manual from NGD for $13, and there it was, a CIB for about $160. I'd dare say mine is probably in the best shape of all those that have turned up, or in the top 3 or 4 (easy 9/10, possibly 9.2-9.5/10).

As for a value, if I had one to spare, I'd probably sell it for $200 or so, depending on condition (for a truly mint one, I might try to squeeze $250-$275). Of course with there being only 4 known carts and 7 known boxes (according to what is registered in the odd and rare variants thread), I could easily see one selling (that wasn't mint, even down to a 6/10 condition) for $200+ at standard open auction (by standard, I mean 99¢ opening bid and running 7 days or longer).
  • I think Seth have a complete one as well in nice condition, I remember the auction and forgot to bid on it, it ended for the advantageous price of $66 iirc. Naturally, this ended at this price cause rare variants wasn't really discussed then as it is now.
