Remember the sticker sealed Super Mario Bros. we certified some time ago? Well, turns out it just sold for a record $100,150...amazing! We're honored to have been able to preserve this historic item for the seller and current buyers. What a time to be alive! You can read more about the sale here:
Honestly, not sure if I like the idea of grading loose games. If I'm understanding correctly, this is the big thing that would really separate you guys from vga.
My initial reading of it made it feel like the point was more about "authentication" and noting cosmetic changes or alterations, rather than "grading" in the sense of how we perceive what VGA provides as a service.
I would have assumed that service only really matters for a handful of games per system, but it will be interesting to see how it unfolds.

What's the issue with grading loose carts?
C'mon my skinny. That's a throw back quote right there. I have no issue with grading loose carts.

Heritage Auctions' May Signature Auctions go live in just three hours! There are three sessions that feature video games. The first two sessions are today, and will be Floor bidding -- you can go to HA during the auctions and watch the event live as everything is auctioned in Chicago.
The Platinum session is reserved for the cream of the crop and highest value items. The two games featured in the Platinum session are the last two items that will sell in the session, and they are one of only two known sealed Donkey Kong 3 HT's, and NWC Grey #260.
The Second floor session features many more rarities, approximately 30 different games will be auctioned live today.
Session 3: Internet Session (Starts @ 5:30PM CST, Saturday May 18)
The third session will not have live floor bidding like today, but will still feature some fantastic games. Bidding is open but will go live online this Saturday evening -- these auctions will operate just like the weekly Sunday night auctions and will feature approximately 20 different games.
Anyone have an opinion on sending a CIB Super Mario World in for grading? It's an original (not million seller). Good but not perfect box. It's somewhat uncommon/rare but don't know if there'd be a demand for a graded CIB.
Just fyi, if you are submitting a CIB and the black cart sleeve inside is not an official Nintendo sleeve, you're getting an "IMP" marking, which means no comic crossover will want it, and you're paying like $85 to send it back in and fix it.

Would have been nice to know this beforehand, but whatever.
Why would anyone want to mismatch game sleeves from third party companies just to avoid a IMP marking? It seems counterintuitive to take the proper black sleeve out and swap in a Nintendo sleeve that never originally came with the game.

Well, it would have to be a first party game with a black or a third party with a Nintendo. These get switched often over the years by sellers, re-sellers etc. I honestly wouldn't have thought it mattered either way, given it's not part of the grade.

Probably the most expensive CIB Zelda that ever sold had the wrong manual and people were crazy to buy it But yeah, $2000 Zelda box vs average CIB game with the scarlet letter(s). One of Wata's feature articles should be which games have Nintendo sleeves, shiny Nintendo sleeves, textured black sleeves, flat black sleeves, and third party sleeves. I know this info is out there, but one big definitive list to check before submitting would be really nice. Or hey, GoCollect Jim, want to get the jump on Wata on serving the community?

I wouldn't personally grade it for my own collection, I'd spend the grading/shipping/insurance money seeking out a better box. If you wanted to sell it, it's rarer than left bros Mario 3 and one hasn't sold on HA yet. I've been waiting for SMW to pop up, or really any CIB SNES games, there hasn't been much. I know some people are early NES ride or die, so would be interesting to see if anyone cares about graded CIB Mario World, Yoshi's Island, Mario RPG, FF3, Chrono Trigger, etc.
FYI I'm not an expert but I'd bet that SNS-MW-USA-2 manual doesn't belong to that box. I'd double check the contents if you intend to grade it.

That's even more ridiculous, of course it's important to have the proper matching items inside the box. I would have lost faith in them had they missed that. Rightfully it should also include the proper bag and version of styrofoam block it came with.

The “proper bag” on all CIB?
Lol ok dude, you go ahead and write that article on plastic bag variants so that WATA can make sure every CIB not only contains one, but has the 100% original authentic one it came with.
What about the smell? Should it have that ORIGINAL Nintendo smell? What do you think the smell scale should be? Actual numbers or maybe like pictures of faces with various expressions. Like one dude smiling with roses and another puckering his face to a fart?

So thoughts on this one? 8.5 / A+ yet back of slab says 8.0 / A+. Is the 8.5 wrong or is the 8.0 wrong? Kind of important to know if bidding on that.
This is not the first time attention to detail has been reported slipping. This is a big miss on their part.

Might show my ignorance here.
could it be 8.5 overall 8.0 box?
Just curious what the reason is as well.
I asked before but I didn't get an answer. Is it possible to have the label read "Cartridge" instead of "Cart?"
I don’t know

The manual and the box are not a match and the condition of the box would make this a waste attempting to grade it.
