Damn, now I kinda want the Warriors to win - for KD to put it all on the line for his team, blow his knee and lose a full year, he should get a ring. Don't see it happening though.
Wow, feel insanely terrible for him.
It was his achilles tendon, not his knee. But yeah, I'm with you. I'd like to see the Warriors rally and win it.
Oh! Didn't know that was different, good info.
You didnt know what an achilles was?
No I honestly thought Achilles was associated with ACL tear. What's the recovery time on something like this?

8-10 months realistically, but always prone to reinjury and you lose a lot of explosiveness. Kobe had an achilles and Boogie Cousins had the achilles last year.
I don't think it ruins KD's career as he'll still have a shot and length no matter what but it definitely could impact his defending and lateral quickness.

My brother blew his knee in 2006 in a summer basketball game. I can still hear his screams. He was a legit D2 prospect. Surgery to recovery I’m 2006 took him around 9 months.
Wow, so his whole next year is likely in shambles, it felt like forever before Boogie came back. The freaking Packers coach of all people had the same injury I believe, this whole time I thought he blew his knee good grief.
That is medical malpractise if you ask me. His calf being strained obviously made the rupture way more likely and they let him out there anyways. Also, his teammates wondering why he wasn't trying to play sooner probably put more pressure on him. KD should have never have even had the choice to go out there. He ruptured his achilles on such a rouitine foot plant.
The rumors are already out that KD will not play next season at all.
Thats news to you? Of course he wont play. It takes a year to get back on the court and feel ok. Its june. Even a fast 10 months makes it april. Hes not risking his free agency if he opts in this offseason on rushing back.

I have to admit, the "rumors" comment about missing the whole season made me laugh. Hard to believe this is news to anyone who watches sports.

I don’t think so myself. He looked like he was ready to go. Sure it seemed like a simple plan but freak injuries happen. I’m a Michigan State fan. Kalin Lucas blew his in the 2009 Final Four on a run back on change of possession. Wasn’t it the other leg he strained his calf? I don’t think this was negligence by the organization as much as it was a freak accident

Do you actually know anything about malpractice? I dont think it even applies here. Plus he said he wanted to play. Who knows, he might have been telling the trainers he was feeling 100%.
That being said, you cant simulate actual game explosiveness in training.

No it was the same leg. Which is why it was stupid that he was even out there. if the rupture didn't happen on that one plant it could have happened on any other routine leg plant on any change of direction in that same game. It wasn't a freak injury.

The malpractice is that he was allowed to make the push to go. The team doctors should have known that it was a bad idea and at least recommended he didn't play in the series. But they cleared him to go without much push back at all. How is KD or Kerr going to know otherwise if the docs give the go ahead? It just seems that the 3-1 deficit clouded everyone's mind on the decision.
I just dont believe he had a calf injury. It looked like an achilles when it happened. Id bet he partially tore/sprain his achilles and he didnt want it to get out there prior to his free agency so it was a "calf injury".
welp atleast gs lost. Toronto beat an injury ravaged gs team. Hopefully durant opts in and screws the warriors cap for next year before bolting the next offseason.
Raptors deserve credit. Even without KD they beat a very good team. If the warriors who beat a hobbled Cavs team in 2015, then had KD join them after 73-9 get credit despite those "yes but" factors, then the raptors deserve credit for beating the warriors.
Klay Thompson torn ACL. Hes done for atleast 2/3rds of next year. Maybe the year.
Right before free agency this summer for him too.
West is wide open now.
Warriors now have to pay an injured klay and KD still might opt in to his 31 million player option. So they might be spending 60-70 million on players that cant play. Boogie is gone for sure. Its going to be the stephanie and donkey show next year.
And to think Shaun Livingston is throwing down dunks and walking around just fine. Life is a funny thing. I couldn't believe Thompson even bothered to throw those free throws at the basket let alone made them because I was certainly expecting the eventual news of ACL
warriors got wrecked with injuries this postseason. Is livingston going to retire? Im really interested in what they will do. Offseason NBA is even more fun than the playoffs to see all the moves and shakeup
Curry is a ghost game 6 for long stretches, then shit the bed in an elimination game. We wont hear anything about it though.

He usually has Klay to step up huge in game 6. Klay is the game 6 guru. Even tonight he had a huge game before the injury. That's how golden state was even able to beat the thunder with KD after being down 3-1 a few years back.
What's interesting about KD and Klay not being available next season is that the Lakers will probably sell the farm for AD. They've been holding back on trading Kuzma but now they may just let him go because they have a nice one year window here to potentially steal a championship with LBJ and AD and some vet free agents. At least on paper. So the Lakers might pull the trigger.
I don't think the Raptors championship should be minimized at all, this is huge, and they played lights out nearly the whole finals. They didn't play dirty or anything and a few Raptors even told the crowd to hush up when Durant went down.
The Warriors are stacked, have dominated for how long, and it seems the tale is the Raptors beat an "injured GS team" - cmon it happens in all sports every season. To be honest, is there a team with a deeper bench than GS?
The Raptors deserved this one IMO, 3 road wins in the finals is bonkers. Jurassic Park!
I'll give the Raptors credit for taking out a Giannis led Bucks team (that the League showed a blatantly obvious bias towards). Well done.
As for the Finals, nah. Minimal credit due. They faced a shell of a team trying to band-aid lineups together. And it STILL took them 6 games (would have been 7 if Steph hit that last shot).

I just saw it. Awful to see. Don't watch if sports injuries gross you out. You can see it pop and roll up his leg. Nearly threw up my breakfast.

Man I nearly threw up just reading your description goddamn.
Wow, definitely not something I need to ever see and cannot unsee

Achilles pretty much is a calendar year and some

What an underwhelming finals... oh well, this year's offseason should be fun to track
its never that fun when the underdog is not really the underdog because the favorite is in disaray with injury. GS wasnt in sync the whole series.
Right before free agency this summer for him too.
