Opened original cellophane.
I've got a couple opened CIBs but with OG celly. Do you leave it on or take it off? Will it shrink over time and evantually warp the box? Does it add to the value? Do I even care?
Check it.

That one guy says take it off for safety. Hard to argue that.
I love when it's on. It's a natural and historic box protector. Price stickers are also rad.
This. But not in this case as thats not OG cellophane.
Adds nostalgia for me.
I'm pretty sure this box came from a rental store so wouldn't be surprised if it's resealed. I guess I don't have the eye. What gives it away? Were all Nintendo games h seam?
For me, without seeing the sides and back, its how thick some of the plastic is at the seam.
I leave it if it's like a 9.5/10 collectible Mario or Final Fantasy game or something. I almost always take it off. I cellophane looks ugly when mixed with other CIB games
Just have to get all of them with it then

What gives it away is mainly the amount of creases to the box, as well as the box looking generally a different age to the seal.
It may well be a store seal but could also easily be done by someone who’s done it after it left the shops.
Regarding price, I doubt it would be any more value other than a CIB price. New/sealed collectors would prefer a wholesome seal or in the very least, a MIB copy.
Personally, I store my boxes separate from their contents. Opening and closing a box is going to put the list stress on it, and if you care about preserving the condition, that's what I'd recommend is the best way to keep boxes nice.
From a collector's POV, I would also pay more if a box still had most of the factory shrinkwrap. As collector's we want everything to be 100% complete and new as possible.
The key point is that we want the ORIGINAL seal and for sealed/mint collectors, the box being as MINT. Where it doesn’t apply is when the game itself is an extremely rare copy where very few exists in whatever form of boxed state.
