I know some people are early NES ride or die, so would be interesting to see if anyone cares about graded CIB Mario World, Yoshi's Island, Mario RPG, FF3, Chrono Trigger, etc.

FYI I'm not an expert but I'd bet that SNS-MW-USA-2 manual doesn't belong to that box. I'd double check the contents if you intend to grade it.

Yes... when I have loose money, and when I get my collection from storage (from my parent house!). I'll do send some of my best (value) CIB mintiest Snes games just like EVo, Wild guns, Chrono, my best FF3, MM x3, (maybe x2 too)... I even think to send my Timewalk sealed snes collection (about 10-12 games..)

Would have been nice to know this beforehand, but whatever.

Why would anyone want to mismatch game sleeves from third party companies just to avoid a IMP marking? It seems counterintuitive to take the proper black sleeve out and swap in a Nintendo sleeve that never originally came with the game.

Well, it would have to be a first party game with a black or a third party with a Nintendo. These get switched often over the years by sellers, re-sellers etc. I honestly wouldn't have thought it mattered either way, given it's not part of the grade.

That's even more ridiculous, of course it's important to have the proper matching items inside the box. I would have lost faith in them had they missed that. Rightfully it should also include the proper bag and version of styrofoam block it came with.

The “proper bag” on all CIB?

Lol ok dude, you go ahead and write that article on plastic bag variants so that WATA can make sure every CIB not only contains one, but has the 100% original authentic one it came with.

What about the smell? Should it have that ORIGINAL Nintendo smell? What do you think the smell scale should be? Actual numbers or maybe like pictures of faces with various expressions. Like one dude smiling with roses and another puckering his face to a fart?

Looks like the general consensus here is that complete games require the bag: http://nintendoage.com/forum/messageview.cfm?catid=5&thr...

A thread outlining the exact bag, styrofoam type and sleeve texture required for each year of NES game: http://nintendoage.com/forum/messageview.cfm?catid=5&thr...

That's a thread from 2010 with 19 total posts, I'm sure if you polled potential buyers and sellers of WATA CIBs whether the plastic is required for them to purchase or should be to get graded at all, you'd be below 5%. Obviously for the actual buyers and sellers, that number is 0.

I mean maybe one could argue it adds to the value (not me, but I could see an argument for those who desire it), but making it a requirement would be a big problem for many reasons.

I'm talking about whether or not it's complete, yo'ure talking about whether or not someone will buy it. They're not the same thing.
  • You were suggesting WATA should ding people who submit CIB games without their original plastic. All I'm saying that very few buyers are sellers, I mean a really scant percentage, would agree with that. For a number of reasons.

Well, my argument is that it should contain those but I'm well aware that will never happen.
  • Fair enough, I just took it as you expecting they all should be and WATA should grade as such. I just think that'd be almost impossible.
  • At some point, if the cart plastic packaging is part of it being "truly" CIB, then having the original shrink wrap on the box is part of it being "truly" CIB. I think a main point of grading CIB games to begin with is to lower the bar from the most 100% complete copy of the game (sealed) to what people actually collect (CIB).

Anyone know if Wata will grade a cased VGA game, or do I have to bust open the case myself before sending it in? That old video of breaking one open doesn't... look easy!
  • Plastic baggies serve no real marketable function. They're cool to have, and keep the flaps nice and sharp from repeated opening and closing but that's about it.

I can open one and reseal it to the point where it is very difficult to tell. There is zero actual security in a VGA case.

They will open it for you.

  • Just placed my first order for a sealed Journey to Silius. What a slick website!
  • Well, they received the game on June 25th and still sitting at "Scanned" stage, Turbo level service. Maybe the 4th of July got them behind?

    Happily so, I imagine.

I’ve had a game with them sitting in the “scanned” stage since June 1.  I think they issued a statement about being a little overwhelmed with orders and they they’re also in the process of moving.

  • I have been having a hell of a time even getting an email response from them. 3 emails went unanswered over 2-3 weeks. Then they reached out and said "sorry we missed it". I still needed help so I replied Tuesday. No answer since.
  • they are in the process of a move, i do know that.
  • Geez. Well, I can't say this is exactly encouraging, moving or not. Where would one have seen this statement they put out? I certainly didn't get an email. I get that they're overwhelmed and I'm sure they are, but they should/could have been better prepared or least more forthcoming. I'm not giving up hope yet, jus' sayin'.
  • They're moving and expanding (adding new employees), but are behind because of overwhelming submissions and a manufacturing issue with their cases (which is nearly resolved), and it will take a little while to catch up. I never saw a notification message either, tbh. I guess some people did?

Now that they've proven their model and business is rolling in, hopefully they'll have more confidence to be able to stay ahead of these issues in the future. The new employees they are getting are sorely needed, I will tell you that.
  • Where are they located? I'm on leave for a couple months with a new baby, I'll help out!
  • Here's the link about Wata's move and being behind fulfilling orders:

This is a good heads up.

I've got a few games I've been considering sending in. Will certainly wait until they get their move all sorted out and add some staff.

Was going to ask the general feedback from Canadian users of this service.

Having my sealed games "verified" and authenticated and protected in those neat cases and what not becomes more and more enticing every day.

What kind of prices are we talking here? NES/GB Advance games.... anyone? How about shipping to Canada? I would imagine it would be reasonable.

EDIT: Getting an idea of pricing from the website, I just didn't want to spam their system with shopping carts that sit forever. These prices seem VERY reasonable and economical. Well done WATA.
  • Literally just shipped my first submission yesterday, wish I knew about the move before shipping. Bummer.

I mean I assume you were going to send them in eventually anyways, no? So why not get out in front of it. But yeah, they should have that message smack dab center on their website

Because they specifically request that we hold off on sending in submissions until after the 24th?  It appears as though there would be a faster turn around time if I waited instead of sending in my submission during the transition.

Damage is done and time will tell on how long it sets me back, but worse things have happened.

    Did you receive a response?

  • Don't feel bad. I asked them long ago if they could write Cartridge on their label instead of Cart and they never even replied. I can't submit anything of mine until I know I can get the proper spelling of cartridge on the label. That would annoy me way too much every time I look at it.

    Nope. Still nothing.
  • Try messaging Deniz or Kenneth on here?

I got my order back a couple weeks ago, just need to take pics and share.

Same here, no response.  Trying to be patient while they’re moving
