The "Mario" copy, the "Nameless" copy, and now this one. As the finder you should name it something memorable, I would personally name it the "Acid Wash" copy.
Keep the cart as-is, even with Chris on the back. If you want to display it, make a repro case while hiding the original shell elsewhere.
I'll post my updated list in a bit when I get home.
There we go. We're at 72 absolutely, positively, no doubts, confirmed copies.
I wonder if there's a way to figure out the # on this one...can you get a SUPER detailed closeup and see if there's some form of ink remaining?
P.S. if only 90 of these were ever made then we're at 80% for absolutely confirmed copies, and 87% for total speculated and rumored copies....we can stop saying there were 90 copies now.
Entirely speculation but 10k seems like the max given the condition. Anyone with cash to spend on this probably keeps looking for a nicer copy. Awesome find regardless
You guys are crazy, I wouldn't pay more than $1000 for this one. The condition would bother me too much.
And you would be massively outbid by a great number of others, so clearly it's worth way more than $1000! Condition means far less for such a limited availability item, the simple fact that it's an actual NWC is enough in and of itself.

All OFFICIAL NWC carts are worth more than $1000 ,even if the condition is terrible like the subject of this thread .I would be curious to see what this would go for if it came up for sale in the open market.
Purely speculative on my part but I'd think 12 to 14k as my best guess. Just a feel on the current market.
For the record though, I'd think it would be a bad buy at that range. Resale would be crap and I wouldn't expect many (any?) realistic offers in the BIN OBO style. Itd have to go to auction to incite real bidding, and most people are hesitant to open auction items where they have 5 figures invested. So if you buy it, be sure you're prepared to keep it.
If I were still in the market for a NWC cart I would definitely not be satisfied with this copy ,or the other no label copies ..It has been my experience most collectors of high end collectibles are not content with simply having a high end collectible, they want the collectible to be in desirable condition. In the case of this NWC unless I found this "in the wild "I could not justify paying 5 digits just to own it ,when the cart is in such poor condition..But that's just me ..
#0280, and #0333 are pretty messed up too but don't quite have enough damage I think to be considered "bad" copies. #0333 despite having one of the coolest numbers, has the worst glue bleed/mottling of any cart, and #0280 has some pretty bad water damage that may or may not one day be reversible.
The picture of #0026 i have there is EXTREMELY blurry, but even in that extreme blur you can see that the label's "shine" was somehow ripped off. The only reason I know it's #0026 is because the NintendoAge thread where that picture is found talks about how it's #0026.

That does NOT match my photo of NWC #0240...but there are minor signatures that do match up so luckily it's a legit photo I've had all this time.
Notice under "TM & (C)1990" there's a little damage mark that matches up perfectly with the herpes label.
This thing was in really nice condition before he stored it in "acid free" packing....another reason to get your rarities properly graded guys. Wow.
...you know, plastic can be mended (I'm not endorsing repairing #0328) but cart herpes...unrepairable. This one is only a step above Mario....what happened to you #0240

I'm Chris! Thanks for finding my cartridge! Oh the memories...
LOL!
That settles it. We should give this cart back to it's rightful owner.

I'm a reasonable man. I'd be willing to offer a $1000 reward for the safe return of my cartridge, no questions asked

You should also get a NWC participant badge, since you were obviously in attendance.

HAHA touche.
but if your goal was to buy this cart, creating this thread probably isn't doing you any favors

with its # being unknown put a little notation on the label
or something

I'd also leave it as is.

I feel this way too.
Here's the Bottom 8 NWCs.

NWC 240 is also a good candidate for your "seen better days" list - http://nintendoage.com/forum/messageview.cfm?catid=6&threadid=154935
Heya guys! I just got off the phone with a friend of mine who buys and resells storage units. He just sent me pics claiming he had uncovered this:
What do you guys think? Looks authentic to me!
What do you suppose it is worth in that condition?
So did you end up buying the cart or what?
