Are these the correct backs for Mega Man?

I recently bought 2 boxed copies of Mega Man, both circle seal but one had the sticker on the front. Both of these are circle seal cartridges and have the same cartridge code but one is REV-A and one isn't. Was one of the backs swapped?

  • Actually, with a release date of 1987, I don't think it's possible for it to have 1985 on the back.
  • A quick search on eBay showed both backs on multiple different listings
  • Seen cart backs have no rhyme or reason sometimes

Why not?   The other way around would be impossible.

They had 1985 back on them for years.

  • So is it generally accepted that these could be the proper backs? I was thinking one could be the early second release with the first release being 5 screw. Then in later releases they removed the Captain Commando sticker and also switched to a REV-A 1987 back.
  • AFAIK there is NO rhyme or reason for the backs, just don't get too obsessed with it unless theres a ton of correct and factual information on it. We don't even know what that number stands for.
  • What are the dates on the chips? If it's like 8745 or similar then it's a first print. The non rev-a backs were used for 5 screw so this must have been during the transition period of 3 screw backs but still had the 5 screw label.
