It's mostly the same game as Myst but its in full 3D instead of point & click screens.

Full 3D movement, WASD on keyboard. On the switch version you'll using the the analog stick to move around. If you've ever played the original Myst, you can't move freely. You have to click on the screen and then you'll move to certain spots in the world with no ability to move the camera.

Two of them (Bounty Hunter and Racer Revenge) are listed as PS4, but the rest are listed as the original consoles, even the GameBoy and NES versions of Star Wars which release the same day as Bounty Hunter. My assumption is that these are just placeholders as they haven't revealed what systems they will be for, but I've seen a lot of people and sites (even ones LRG retweets) saying they are the original games for the systems. I honestly will be pretty disappointed if these are just reproduction carts. I was hoping they would be Switch/PS4 titles, since a lot of the Star Wars games are download only on those, whereas we already have physical copies of the PC/NES/N64/GameBoy versions.

Bounty Hunter and Racer Revenge are listed as PS4 because those two are already available on PS4 as straight PS2 ports. These two will be just like the LRG Psychonauts release. The rest will be repros.

Would it not make more sense for LucasFilm to be working on getting those other games onto modern systems, but haven't announced where they will be coming to yet (and thus only list the original consoles atm)? I mean they started doing that with Bounty Hunter/Super Star Wars/Racer Revenge a few years back before the Switch released. Some of them I could see being PC only releases, but I really doubt they're going to be doing repros for BOTH the Gameboy and NES versions of SW and ESB, along with a PC AND N64 version of SOTE and Episode 1 Racer. It seems like they would do one or the other, it just doesn't make much sense to me otherwise. Listing both versions could work if they were releasing both versions on one disc/cart for PC, PS4 or Switch. Also the fact that LRG hasn't clarified anything since the announcement also makes me think that they can't disclose atm what system they will be releasing on. I guess we will find out soon enough because the GB/NES Star Wars is supposed to release this month.

Also I noticed the link they retweeted from Game Informer took out all the original systems. I'm pretty sure they were listed yesterday afternoon on there.

Oh that's awesome! And it's similar to Myst? I think I'll buy this as long as they include the whole game.

This site seems to think LRG will be making repros with Collectors Editions.

I wonder if they got confirmation from LRG or are just going off the press release which includes the original systems. LRG made big deals about getting into PS3/3DS/Wii U titles so it's kind of strange to me they didn't hype up the fact this would be their first GB and N64 games, they weren't even mentioned in the trailer they released iirc.

Either way I'm getting more worried/convinced that repros will be the actual route that take with these games which is incredibly disappointing to me. Was really excited to own some of these on a modern console.
  • I am kind of starting to think the same thing, but Bounty Huntet was a PC game wasn't it?

Just PS2 and Gamecube as far as I know. It did get a digital release on PS4 along with Racer's Revenge, Jedi Starfighter and Super Star Wars a few years ago, so I guess they're just pressing the existing ports to disc and not bringing over any of the other games. Disappointing.

EDIT - I mean pressing Bounty Hunter and Racer's Revenge, I imagine the other two might come eventually as well if these sell well.

    I think you're right.

Someone said the announcement was going to be disappointing because they didn't have enought good titles. Who was that?
  • This is like 10% stupid and 90% rad IMO. I'm totally onboard for this set.

  • So does this count as part of the NES set?

Cool, but I don't see it on their website. Shouldn't they be showing their June 28th releases now? Am I missing something?

  • So Dark Forces won't be on the PS4 or Switch? I mean I kinda get why some people would enjoy the cross marketing, especially toy guys, but this is about as exciting as The Last Jedi for me.

In for the GB cart for sure. Might try for the NES game as well. This is like the ultimate crossover for me as both a game collector and a star wars collector!

It usually takes them a day or two to update the site once they announce something on Twitter, should be showing up tomorrow or Wednesday.

I'm disappointed they're not modern console ports but they're cool enough looking that I'll be buying them assuming the price is right. If I wasn't a Star Wars collector and just a game collector I doubt I would buy them though. I don't think anyone is going to be buying these to open and play so I'm glad it looks cool sealed.
  • Definitely not part of the set.

And if anything, it would be just another unlicensed re-release like how Pac-Man, R.B.I. Baseball, Gauntlet, and Indiana Jones Temple of Doom are for Tengen. Same goes for Duck Tales Remastered, Metal Storm re-release, and the dozen or so other reauthorized games.

Unless it has official approval from Nintendo (e.g. if Nintendo ever starts relicensing NES games) then it's not a Nintendo game, it's just a game that works on a Nintendo.

    ....

    ....

That being said, it's freaking awesome.
  • It seems like they licensed the rights from Lucas Films / Disney. They even mentioned some requirements from Disney for production standards on their twitter when this was announced. So while it's not licensed from Nintendo it's much more legit than other re-releases and reproductions.

I still 100% agree, not a part of the official set.
  • How is the star wars games just no a repo, I mean why couldn't they just release them to the switch as a collection instead of making repos

Because they are only a publisher and, to the best of my knowledge, those games aren't available on the Switch at this time.

  • I just dont see this as their mission. They were a company to bring digital games to physical media

Re releasing star wars games that already have physical games is kind of pointless to me. Lame imo. The PC releases cool, but these carts and releases of games that are already console physical games doesnt do anything for me.  I already have these carts so why the hell would I buy a repro cart of Star Wars NES or GB with Limited Run stamped on it for 40 dollars each plus shipping? Bunch of suckers.

It serves zero purpose. The game already exists , and on top of that its not even a release for a current platform. Its a release of it on the same platform it already exists for . LITERALLY POINTLESS

And for 40 plus shipping? People should be ashamed of themselves for this crap. This is basically no different than an Alibaba China Repro cart on ebay put in a package.

I thought that these star wars releases were going to be new system physical ports. I was interested in the PC Ones. I now see differently. Dissapointed. Will definitely be passing on all of it after looking into the games I was interested in were just going to be PC releases and not PS4 or Switch

Limited Run games have now become a sort of set in and of itself. If you are collecting a complete set of switch games for example, collecting a complete set of limited run games is similar to that. Me personally, I don't collect limited run games, but this is well-beyond the whole physical copies of digital games at this point. Whatever limited run puts out is collectible in its own right.

Limited run is a set unto itself. Nothing they do is part of the sets that they make games for. The only difference is that their "set" of games includes multiple systems. I would think that at some point having a complete set of limited run games are going to be a thing.

  • The $85 collectors editions of the NES/Game Boy games have essentially the same box and goodies. Come on, even the original games didn't have the same box art as each other! Also you don't get the cool on-card packaging in the collectors edition. I'm sticking to the boxes and will have to forego my Nintendo tape action figures.

Also print runs of 5000 each! That's massive, especially for Game Boy! Probably the biggest aftermarket Game Boy release ever?

I am with you this is the biggest cluster eff ever.  The original Star Wars NES game is $20, so basically you want me to pay double for a repro that you just stamped your name on when I could just get something from china if I wanted to do that.  This is the most absurd thing ever.  I wonder if they underestimated their appeal or are just trying to cash in on star wars fans (I have dealt with LRG as a company being a vita collector and their whole company is a shill a lot of the time, yes they bring phyiscal media of vita games that would not existed otherwise which is great but how they go about it abuses the crap out of their customers, any other company that treated their customers like they do would go out of business so fast).  They are not bringing anything new that did not already exist and instead just stamping their name on it and at inflated pricetag.  These would make sense as ports to modern consoles like the switch or the ps4, or nice remasters but these are over priced repros to try and take advantage of star wars fans and LRG collectors.  This is why I will be so glad when LRG is done with the vita so I never have to deal with them again.

  • I have good news for those who are whining and crying about the Star Wars games. You don't have to buy them. Yes, you heard me right. You don't have to buy them. Limited Run Games isn't holding a gun to anyone's head. They aren't forcing anyone to do anything they don't want to do. LRG has provided arguably one of the best services to game collectors and physical game enthusiasts in recent memory. If they want to branch out and offer these types of Star Wars game, they certainly have earned the right to do so. I'll be passing on most of them since I don't feel the need to have them, but complaining about it simply doesn't make sense. Why complain? What do you have to gain from crying? I don't get it. Buy the games that you want to own and don't buy the games you don't want. It's amazing that I have to explain that to some.

It’s also amazing how many people disagree with you.
