Another USPS Shipping Nightmare
I ordered a copy of Chubby Cherub from eBay in mid-May with an expected delivery date of 5/23/19. On that day the tracking was updated to "could not access delivery location". The next night at 9pm I got a notification that the game was delivered but it was not anywhere to be found.
I gave it a couple of days before calling USPS (1 hour hold) only to be told that it had been scanned in at the USPS hub near my house as the postman could not deliver it to a business address. I said that I have a residential address, and the rep on the phone said she could see that and wasn't sure what happened and suggested I go to the hub and pick up the next day.
I drive to the address she gave me to find out it was not a place customers go so I waited around for an employee to come outskde and asked them to get the package. They were gone 10 minutes and game back saying that the detailed tracking (that only USPS can see) shows the package was mistakingly delivered to Amazon's fullfillment center instead of my house. She said my normal carrier was on vacation and the person filling in must have gotten confused.
She told me I would need to wait 14 business days for Amazon to return the package to USPS and for it to be delivered. She said I didn't need to do anything and the tracking on the package would not be updated.
25 days later I call USPS again (another 1 hour hold) only to be told that Amazon still has the package and I should call them.
I call Amazon (1 minute hold) and was told they have no record of accepting the package but they would look into it and search the warehouse and contact me within 48 hours.
3 days goes by and I call Amazon again only to find out the person I previously talked to did not notate the call so there was no record of our conversation. The new person told me that USPS has to come pick up the package, they wouldn't send it back.
I go to the main office location of USPS and have them look into it more and I was told Amazon has it and I would need to wait. They say the package isn't lost and even if it was it was shipped media mail so I can't request a refund. The woman was very rude and basically ran me out of the place (and the guy who was in front of me for some reason). I did leave a message for the postmaster to call me with options (it has been 2 weeks and I have not heard from them).
Unfortunately I can't file a claim with eBay because the tracking shows delivered and the Amazon center where the package supposedly is has the same zip code as me.
So, basically I have to wait for a game that may or may not ever show up, and if it doesn't I'm out the purchase price plus shipping. It is very frustrating when there are transactional records of where the package is and who made the mistake. But, because it is USPS they will take no responsibility for it.

Still waiting on my Groudon GBA SP and mew DS to show up (it's been 5 years). Never did get a refund either. It sucks
I feel your pain man. Very sorry to hear that.

This does not inspire hope....
I don't blame eBay or the seller (even though he sent media mail). I blame USPS and only USPS. I'm sure if I ordered a 2nd copy of the game both would show up because that is my luck
Why are you calling Amazon? Tell USPS to find your package or file a claim with Paypal, it's not that complicated. If you're calling Amazon, you're doing USPS job for them.
Well, USPS is hit or miss with customer service. At least OP is trying to get his item back and from what it sounds like USPS isn't being very helpful. I had a situation where an item went missing, got a refund, but the item never ended up showing up. All USPS gave me was a caae number and "the warehouse your item was last scanned at has not responded to the emails." Apparently the warehouse only communicated via emails... so yea.
Good luck OP!

Sadly no it sucks. I contacted USPS when this happened to me and they basically didn't care and apparently said my packages were returned to the sender. The sender said they never got them back though and even though they agreed to refund me, they never did.
I tried filing a claim with PayPal who denied it because it is 31 days after expected delivery date and they won't review anything over 30 days.
I called eBay and they actually were helpful. They offered me a $50 coupon on my next purchase. I paid a few dollars more than $50 for the game but at this point I'm cutting my losses and calling this a win.

I actually didn't know it was illegal to ship video games as media mail. I just looked at the listing and it says "Standard Shipping"
Illegal may be a strong word, but it blatently violates the intent of media mail, and is in clear violation of the definition of media mail. I would explore that route, see if it works.

Use the words "against US Postal regulations" and hopefully that motivates somebody. Also would think heavily about leaving a neg for the seller stating they shipped Media Mail and now your shit is lost.
