  • +1 nominate AC/DC
  • 10. One of my favorite bands. Patton is GOD. I nominate Ween.
  • Nah not really liking it. I like some with similar styles incorporated in their music, but not really this. Never heard of this group. Maybe ive heard a song or two just never connecting it with a name. Ive heard worse.

    4/10

after listening to a few more singles i kniw a couple of those. I was born in 1986 so i was too young to hear this on the radio and didnt watch mtv till the mid 90s at the earliest.

Oddly enough it was their satirical country album that got me back into classic country. Great band.
  • One of the best bands of the last 40 years easily.

Angel Dust is a timeless classic.
  • 10. Love the intensity. Some really good songs and Angel Dust is a great, great album.

    No nomination.
  • I really should make a requirement that all zeros and tens are claimed in order to count
  • Make ABBA a Music Debate topic at some point; the girls (the A's) were so cute and hot!

Six of the "10" votes are at least claimed, and a few others that commented may have voted that way too.

A bit surprising, but maybe not with our crowd here?

And the Bs were musical geniuses; that music works as METAL ffs.

  • Yes, the B's had a major hand in making both of the recent Mamma Mia! movies and made cameos in both movies. But the A's were the lead singers most of the time and they were cute and hot

I already did Satanic ABBA.  Regular ABBA has to wait.

Like have a requirement to post what # we set, right?

    I claimed 10.

Would love to see Killswitch Engage up for nomination. Such an underrated band that switched lead singers a few times. I prefer Howard Jones and he quit for a minute battling depression.

Jesse Lynch was equally as awesome.

    Rose of Sharyn

    This Fire Burns

    Starting Over

    Among others. Good stuff.

I missed this.  Fitting, because Jesse Leach on Angel Dust:

Angel Dust is still one of the most diverse metal/rock records you will ever hear. It pushed the boundaries of what you can do with a voice. Mike Patton had done it on previous records of course, but Angel Dust by Faith No More is the one that offered so much creativity to how a song could be written and what you could do with a voice.

“I first heard it when I was just into high school. I just couldn’t get enough – I memorised all the lyrics, I used to sing it with my friends. It changed my life and the way I saw music – it made me excited to try new things as a musician. As a hardcore punk, all I did was scream, but this is the first band that made me want to sing, and figure out how I was gonna do that.

“It changed everything – especially for people of my generation. If you drop Mike Patton’s name to any musician, it doesn’t matter if they’re a fan or not, they just have to respect the man, and that’s all due to Angel Dust. You get the Mr. Bungle fans of course, but to me it doesn’t touch Angel Dust – it’s by far Patton’s superior work, instrumentally and vocally.”

  • FNM  is the best of these polls so far IMO. Anyone catch the reunion tour?

Agreed. Man up if you vote zero.

Unless it's Visitors ABBA. Then 10.

I haven't seen them live (I wish), but the most recent stuff I've seen was from YT videos like their 2009 concert where they coved the 'Reunited' song, as well as seeing Patton have a recent get-together with Chuck Mosley and sung a few songs before he passed away.

But that's the sad last "gee isn't it obvious we're about to break up?" album.    What do you have against the happy peppy music from their prime?  Not to mention their fantastic live concerts that you find on YouTube?

If I wanted sad, depressing, crying in my, eh, coffee music, that's what old time classic country is for.  Probably my favorite genre (along with 80s, seeing as how I was born in '80), especially the 70s outlaw era.

I actually don't mind peppy ABBA, but I can only take so much pop music treacle from anybody before I go on a homicidal rampage. Or just get tired of it. I like cotton candy, but I'm not having it for every meal.

Visitors is on a higher level of complexity and achievement. Seriously, give it a real listen. It's truly a work of art.

And Garth Brooks ruined country for me forever.

  • Garth Brooks did for country what Michael Jordan did for basketball...no really they're from about the same era and had about the same impact in about the same way.

And ABBA is NOT cotton candy   If I want cotton candy that's what our annual county fair is for. Geez, I could get used to that whole If I want...then that's what...is for sentence!

Yeah, made it so every schlub who came along think he could dunk or sing. At least Jordan could ball. Brooks made country too mainstream and everyone started to sound like him. Country sucked horse nuts once he hit.

As I said, I like early ABBA in small doses. But I can hear Mamma Mia once and I'm good for a year.

  • So if let's say you hear it on the radio or something one too many times, is your reaction, "Mamma Mia...here we go again..."?

Sick! I loved mr. bungle all through school, saw tomahawk, and fantomas a few times too. Used to like Mike Patton  a lil too much. Seen him in interviews and he seemed like a dick, but I met him at his merch booth at Fantomas and he was actually really nice.. show was nuts. The bass player from bungle had a three piece jazz group then the locust played and blew my mind grapes with sounds never before heard by these ears and then fantomas.
