Are these NES games 100% complete?

    So most likely this:

    -Cartridge (TAI-BQ-USA)

    -Box (TAI-BQ-USA)

    -Manual (NES-BQ-USA)

    -Taito Poster (TAI-NES-US-5)

    -Nintendo Power Insert (GP-NES-USA)

    -Gray Epilepsy Sheet (NES-DOC-USA/CAN)

    -Black Textured Sleeve

It came with -6. If there were multiple print runs then I think -5 is also possible.

I think F2 also has it too, but I think too many people throw random Taito inserts in the rare Taito games to up the value to give it a solid confirmation.

  • Flintstones 2 probably has a -5 or -6. BB 2 is either -4 or -5. This is why we need definitive conformation for these expensive Taito games but the only way that's going to happen is opening sealed games. In 2019 that ain't happening unless someone is feeling very very generous.
  • Every mint CIB I've ever seen came with -6.

Also, an easy way to confirm print runs is to just look at date codes on multiple games of the same publisher and cross reference. No need to open precious rare sealed games.

For example, if F2 was released in 1994 but no other Taito games were then its likely that any 1994 Taito reprints will have the same inserts in a given print run since they probably didn't do just one print run of one game, or reprint old ads (especially considering they’re ads and should be relevant to the day they were printed)

Edit: Also thinking more rationally. It definitely came with -5, and -6 is probably the one that needs to be investigated more for BB2 at least.
  • I doubt BB2 ever got a reprint but -5 is probably right. For there to be 6 revisions means they practically changed the poster about once a year.

I can 100% confirm two print runs.

One in 29th week of 1993, and one in the 47th week of 1993. That puts it right in line with the 47th & 48th week of 1993 for F2's printing.

  • So about July to November of 1993. How do we know that's not the same print run? How long do print runs last? That's only about 4 months. To me a reprint means there is at least a year gap after the last game left the factory or close to it.
  • The Sqoon poster is: BRO-NES-US

Couple days, maybe a week at most since some chips are 1 week apart during any given print run of any game.

From my limited knowledge of the PCB manufacturing process the chips all come in a giant roll and then a machine literally just pops them on and solders it onto a board.

The chips are probably all manufactured in a separate facility from the PCB shop. The PCB shop probably does PCB fabrication, population, soldering, and assembly in one line and then hand it off to packaging...packaging then sends it off to distribution centers which then send it to shelves....so from chip date to store shelf is, I THINK, 6 weeks to 2 months.

Its definitely not as easy as “print” and the word we use is kinda odd but it’s just a collector term at this point I guess.

Thanks for the info. Kinda wish it was Irem but at least it solves the mystery of why the hell irem wouldn’t release another game themselves until 3 years later...they probably had given Brøderbund the publication rights and it’s not really just simply an irem game.
  • Makes sense. The chip dates are usually a month before the release date.

  • Anyone know what a Hang Tab Castlevania is supposed to include? I know there are technically two versions because of the logo on the cart label.
  • Most likely just the KON-NES-USA insert.

    So something like this:

    -Cartridge (NES-CV-USA)

    -Box (NES-CV-USA)

    -Manual (NES-CV-USA)

    -Original Silver Konami Insert (KON-NES-USA)

    - Flat Black Sleeve
  • Can someone help me with information on what constitutes a 100% complete Journey to Silius?
