I think it's time to bump my own thread 3.5 years later. I ended up selling off my vita games a couple of years ago to pay for my first switch. Now I'm getting the itch again.....and time to start looking for some JRPgs.
Did any of you guys keep the Vita collecting going?
I did..... it’s at about 310 +\- US releases now. LRG Kept the system alive but the are down to their last 15 +\- for the us set. I never got into the euro or Japanese with English like I am with the switch
In the long run I've become somewhat disillusioned w/ the Vita. Comparing it to the PSP the library is just terrible. There are a few standout great games of course but generally speaking it's just not a very fulfilling library.
Look at any top ten Vita games list and they're all ports, remakes, or side-games to other better console releases. Persona 4 is a PS2 game and it's oft lauded as the best game on the Vita, not a great state to be in (though granted - it IS a great game). Rayman Origins - same, it's a PS3 game. LittleBigPlanet - better on PS3. Final Fantasy X/X2 - PS2 games.
Hotline Miami is one of the biggest selling points IMO but once again, it's on other consoles and PC. Terraria - best on PC. Ys: Memories of Celceta, one of the worst Ys games IMO.
Soul Sacrifice was probably my favorite game on the system, but it was made far better by playing online and good luck finding a team today. Danganronpa is a close second with some amazing storytelling, but it always felt pigeon-holed onto the system. They ended up re-releasing on PS4 to reach a wider audience. Killzone Mercenary is the best shooter on the system and it's "serviceable".
Which all sucks cuz for a long time it was my go-to system, but I think it was mainly because "Lol I can get trophies while I'm on the bus now" tore me away from actually good games. I wish I felt otherwise tbh.

Did they announce they are only doing 15 or so more? Are other publishers like NIS, Atlus etc still making anything for it?
