I brought something similar up in chat last night, SE is not on his list and he doesn't want it. He says if anyone got it for him, he'd just turn around and sell it. I mentioned getting the copy that has the cartoon kid's head gouged out of the label
Sounds like somebody else's SE story. Who could that be? I wonder...maybe it will make it into the E-zine someday...hint hint hint... Even with the sticker, another great find in the wild. Nice to see him into our special little group.

and so... anyone think they also did a run of Stadium Events at the Chicago Woolworths as well? could have! two found in the area in the last year? not bad
I was under the impression they were only released in the Chicago area. I even asked about it in an older SE thread. I don't recall what the others had to say about it though.
they are rumored to have been released in NYC at woolworths. This, to my understanding has no solid source behind it. I do not believe this though as numerous SE carts have popped up across the nation... i think more have been found OUTSIDE of new york than in new york. I know, I know people move around....
Some people have found ex-rental versions of this game. One on there way to Vegas in the middle of nowhere... and now this one looks like it was a rental version. Odd indeedy.
thats so amazing!! here i cant even find common games!!
It's strange how that works, I own around 500 NES games, I don't have Contra, and have not seen it for sale for under 10.00, but games like Stadium Events and fire and ice I've found for less than 5.00

This was in fact a rental cartridge. It had rental stickers on it. It also had a plastic cheap rental case around it which had the price tag (had it not had the case, the store I bought it from likes to put stickers on the actual cartridges themselves, which would have just further added to the sticker problem, which fortunately with the suggestion of a hair dryer from some nice folks on DP was removed). I also purchased one other game with the same plastic case, same rental store stickers from it the same day.
It was definitely a rental and the rental store it came from and was labeled by is/was nearby the store where I purchased it. I'm guessing someone traded in a collection of NES games and had bought a lot of the NES rentals from the video store in question as there was an additional 6 or 7 other games with the same rental tags. Strangely enough SE was the only one with that nasty metallic sticker on the label.

Talk about stickers, how about clear packaging tape! About a year ago I bought a huge lot of games from a guy for $50. It had a nes system and like 30 games, a snes, a few n64 systems, a genesis and games, and a whole bunch of stuff.
Well one of those games was Bonk's Adventure. Real mint label, however a second look you could see the rigid side where the tape had been cut so you knew tape was on it. It didn't affect pic at all as it was clear.
I left it on for about 2 weeks then I got so frustrated I dove in and started removing lol. I was sweating haha. Surprisingly it came off very easy as pic was very glossy and it didn't stick to it bad. I peeled it away in like 10 sections, took me like 20 minutes. Now I have about as mint as you can get for Bonk's adventure.

^I'd be scared as hell taking that sticker off. If I ripped the label I'd have to break something.
Thats what I did to the back of my flinstones cart, but its an easy fix (the front label is ok)
I would NOT use rubbing alcohol as it could easily rub the ink of the label or soak underneath the plastic layer and damage it forever...

Wow, you really got the stickers off without a problem? If so, that's really insane! Nice job!
Yeah, here's the end result. Took all of about 10 minutes.
Added in edit: And I'm getting an error trying to upload the file, lemme resize it and try again.

Looks pretty darn minty to me.
