What do I do? That package is sitting at the Montebello, California post office, and I don't know how to get it back to me! They should have shipped the package back to sender after a month, but they never did.
How do I get my package back from that post office??
How do I contact a post office in the USA? Last time I tried to call that post office, the only phone number I could find was 1-800-ASK-USPS.
Adam, go to usps.com & click "locate a post office" near the top of the screen. On the next screen, type the zip code or city of the post office you wish to find & the search will bring up post offices near that location. Each post office location found in the search has a link you can click on that has a phone number for that particular post office. Hope this helps you out, man.
Ya, this is total BS. I can't believe it man. What a brutal start to your ebay career.
How does this work then, does paypal just scoop it outta your account? Charge your credit card? Or did you have funds in paypal that they can take? Super sorry dude. This is a perfect example of why I'm selling things less and less. I'll buy and trade. The left overs, I'll sell here or locally if I can
Have you spoken to paypal on the phone? I had an incident where they "held" my funds because they thought it might not have been an authorized transaction.
Despite my explaining in detail on the site (as requested), I ended up having to call them. Got an agent, and in 5 minutes got my money. She actually seemed shocked that I'd responded at all online, like, apparently they just don't pay attention at all to that stuff. Funny thing was, I checked my email after that and had one from paypal telling me they were awarding the money back to the sender.
So paypal had decided against me, but talking to a human being actually ended up being what worked. If they've already taken your money, it can't hurt to call them, just review every piece of info you've already given and hope for the best.
for future reference, Paypal requires signature confirmation on items $250 or more for proof of delivery. Delivery Confirmation only works for less than $250.

Shouldn't vanilla Delivery Confirmation cover the first $250 , though?
^ That and the basic international service through CanadaPost include $100 insurance. Not sure how well that works and what you have to do to prove it. But maybe get CanadaPost on the case. If they have to cough up $100, they just might find that package for you, before having to pay you.

It's paypal's rules for seller protection. Just goes by transaction value.
Any transaction below $250 , DC works for proof of shipping. You need signature confirmation on anything over $250.
His transaction was for $300, so DC doesn't work for proof in their eyes.
I can't believe this shit! It's making me think twice about selling stuff on Ebay. I would call them up and see what they could do, if they can't do anything, RIP THEM A NEW ONE!!! and demand to speak to their superior.
I called the people at PayPal, and spoke to someone in the Disputes department. He said that if I can get the people at the recieving Post Office to find the package and change the tracking data, they will refund my money in full. He then told me that if the USPS can't find the package and scan it to update the tracking info, I'm shit outta luck. Apparently it doesn't matter that it has arrived at the post office, he needs to see confirmation that the package has been attempted to be delivered.
Yeah, that's right. Even though I saved all of my reciepts, sent the package to a confirmed address, and did absolutely everything perfectly and by the book, I still get screwed if the Post Office can't find the package. Absolute bullshit.

Even after all my proof that the buyer was at fault, I still lost. I'm in disbelief.

Yep, pretty much... My account is at -$300, and I can't send or recieve payments until I "resolve" it (aka, give them money out of my bank account)
I'm on the phone with PayPal right now. I'm going to talk to an agent and see if I can't get my money back.
