Lazy mail persons.

Recently My mail lady put a slip in my mailbox telling me i should get a rural (bigger) mailbox. It seems she is tired of jamming my games inside my mail box. Now today i was home all morning and had been waiting for a package. I saw her pull up to the mail box and then leave. I went out not expecting to find my package as its about 10 games in the boxes and knew it wouldnt fit. I open the mail box and find a slip saying she tried to deliver but no one was home and that i could pick it up after 3 pm. What a lazy bitch.

Has anyone else had a simmilar problem?

  • I would report her. That is her job and there are people lined up for year for postal jobs if she doesn't want to do hers. I would go to your local PO and ask to speak to the postmaster, no joke.

  • I got steamed just reading your post!

My mail man is good. But I have a story.

We have a centrally located box in our subdivision that services about 20 homes.

On Thursday a got a bunch of stuff, but the crappy key to "The Large Box" didn't work in it any more. No joke, I spent over an hour trying to get that thing open on 6 different occasions.

I left a note the next day the stuff was on my porch.

  • One of the biggest investments I made was getting to know my mailman. I live in an apartment building and it didn't make much sense to be purchasing and trading large quantities and expensive games if I wasn't going to make sure a) I got the packages and b) no one from my apartment building messed around with them. And by getting to know Dave (my mailman) he would go out of his way to help me out (if I wasn't home at the time of delivery he would come back at the end of his route because he knew that I would most likely be there).

Seriously, say hello to them, strike up a conversation and show that you care. You'd be surprised how many of them would help you out and not leave a note that they tried to deliver but no one was home without even checking!!!!

  • my mail lady is great, i just hate when she has the day or week off because her sub is allways a fuckin moron!
  • Mine used to suck, leaving packages at a community mail box all alone. I had to talk to the post master.

I also got packages jammed in my box all the time I finally took pictures and brought them down to the post office now I have a new mail women.

I used to be a mailman loved it I always wondered if I was delivering NES stuff image
  • I can't complain about my current mail carrier...  She does a great job...  Always leaves packages on the front porch...  Never tries to jam them in the mail box...

  • I had a similar experience like this where my post lady diddnt even bother to come to my door because I was sitting across from it and never saw anyone come up, I went out to get the mail and there was a slip... laziness, talked to the post office and a week later I had a new postal lady, shes really good now, she even stops to pick up stuff from me when I need to ship it out. Deffinantly report her, its her job and if she doesn't want to do it she doesn't deserve to have the job.
  • I have a rural mail box and hardly anything i buy ever fits. They just leave a slip letting me know its at the post office. actually wouldnt you rather they leave the package at the post office where it is safe until you pick it up rather then leave it where it can be stolen. also when people send with delivery conformation dont they hold it at the post office til you sign for it. I make at least 3 to 4 trips to the post office a week eventhough i have a rural box.
  • Not unless its sig confirmation. Deliv confirmation they just scan when they leave it.
  • not my post office I have to sign a card for the ones that have delivery conformation
  • I have a standing order for my mail lady to just leave a slip. I live in a row of townhomes and DO NOT want my packages sitting out for even an hour unattended.

One more thing if you really want to get on your postal carrier's good side, like any other individual service person you interact with regularly, tip them cash at the holidays. For those you would normally tip (waitress, gas pumper, hooker) 1.5x or double is fair.

That $20 will buy you an entire year of favorable consideration.
  • My mail lady is a sweetheart. She will deliver packages at my grandmas house if she knows I won't be home that day. She lives in my subdivision as well so it works out well. I tell her when I am expecting something in and she will call and wake me up if I don't answer the door. It really does pay to be nice to your mail carrier.

It also pays to be nice to your clerks at the PO as well. I try to help them out and joke around with them. They will help you out with shipping stuff cheaper and sometimes slap a priority sticker on a parcel post item image

  • **WORD OF CAUTION** I used to have my packages left on my porch until I had 6 yes 6 packages of NES goodness total value of about $650 stolen. Now I get slips on everything that doesn't fit in the box. My mail lady is awesome, she's even hot which is a bonus. She has flipped U turns and even stopped in an intersection and blocked traffic to run packages over to my car if she see's me about town. She for sure gets a Christmas bonus! image

The only complaint I have is that she too leaves a slip only, she doesn't come to the door anymore unless she see's me through the front window or something.

Oh and I wish she didn't get days off cause her fill in is a total DICK!
  • I have two regular postal delivery guys...one guy from the normal local postoffice...extremely friendly guy...also knows that I'm usually asleep (or hungover image) when he gets to my place early in the morning, so he rings the doorbell, leaves the packages, and drops off mail at various other houses before he gets back here...and if the packages are still in front of my place, he'll take them back and leave a slip behind. I've seriously never had problems with this guy!

Then I've got a guy from a national courier for fast & large packages (especially international ones)...this guy SUCKS! I've seriously had so many complaints with this courier...packages left in front of my place (sometimes without ringing the doorbell as I could see the guy walking to my door and back through the front window)...no shows when I make specific appointments to have packages delivered...he handles the packages with absolutely no care...doesn't have any change $$ for customs fee charges, etc. I'm going to be sending them a complaint again in a bit as I've had packages left in front of my place again in the last two days. I live on a relatively busy street, so it's pretty risky to just have packages left in front of my place (and it's not part of the procedure here in Belgium anyway).
  • Crappy home mail service is why I now have a post office box. Cheap, Secure, Convenient.
  • My current mail carrier is great. If I have a package, she'll bring my other mail up to the door with it. Also, she knows that she can leave the stuff with the neighbors across the hall.

When I first moved out on my own, I lived in a converted basement apartment in an older couples house. I came around the back of the house, (my door was the patio door) and saw 2 boxes sitting under the landlords travel trailer. I went over and looked at them and lo and behold, it was the computer and monitor that I was waiting on! On the monitor box was a huge sticker "Signature Required". Needless to say, they didn't get any signature. I had other experiences like that when I lived there.
