Much more exciting than my Wii launch story; my girlfriend worked at Gamestop so we got to preorder a copy. Fun read! Everyone's so obsessed with WalMart that they forgot about poor ol' K-Mart.
When it launched here I was asking/calling around to every store to see who was doing pre-orders and everyone said they werent going to. I got lucky and was walking around the mall and went into Zellers (which I had called earlier) and they changed their mind and did a pre-order as long as you got 2 games with it. I was the first one on their pre-order list.
When I showed up on launch day at 8:50 (they opened at 9:00) there was a line-up of like 30-35 people waiting to get one. Turns out only 2 Wiis came to that store and they were expecting a lot more. After having the manager make a lot of people angry I got to calmly walk in with the 1 other guy who pre-ordered. Turns out they didnt advertise the pre-order and no one knew about it. That could also explain the lack of systems showing up. Grabbed a second Remote along with Zelda and Excite Truck. Spent the rest of the day playing Wii Sports with friends and family until they went home and I busted out some Zelda. It was a great day.
Pretty much the exact same thing happened for the PS3 launch here too. Except I got 2 of those to flip instead of play.

I'm particularly proud of the graphic in this article
Did you make that Dan? It looks great.

Actually, I Google Image Searched for "exploding Outback winery" and it was the first one, how lucky can you get!
