Chavez II seems to go under the radar quite a bit and is actually more common than it is said to be. There have been 2 sealed copies and 4 CIB copies this month alone so I don't think this should be a 'finders keepers' if you bought it for $70 because the sealed ones did not go for that much more.

Altho the topic header says "Need to gloat about that fantastic $1 deal you scored at Goodwill? Post it here!" there arent any rules on what that could be posted under finders keepers. A find is a find no matter the price

If everyone posted threads like this then there would be nothing exciting to read in the forums. Its the same like finding any other game CIB and then making a seperate thread. All it does is create a wave of pointless threads. Thats why there is the weekly finds sticky thread.

If someone has a find that they are excited about they are welcome to make a thread for it in this section, that is what it is here for. It is good for people to share their excitement about stuff with there friends. Help keeps everyone collecting and motivated to search for that next big score.
This game is weird when compared to rarity/price. It's kinda like Fun N Games being a r8, but cart only does not usually surpass $20 at auction. Of course yours is CIB so that's always better from a collectors point of view. I think in 3-4 years when SNES collecting really starts to catch on, this will be an absolute awesome buy! Congrats man!

I dont think you have to worry about that. People here wont make a new thread for every game they find. Most people make these threads to show off something they are excited about. I dont think too many people are interested in showing off a $2 SMB/DH find hehe. And whats exciting variates from person to person.
When you say "threads like this" it almost sounds like its nothing special at all, like a $2 SMB/DH find hehe A CIB Chavez II in great condition is far from the most common game out there, its surely doesnt fall under the "any other game CIB" category.
EDIT: I did a 30 day search on Ebay on "chavez" and the only complete copy i found was the one that this thread is about. Do you have a link to the 2 sealed ones?
$70 is the going rate for a CIB Chavez II. If Nintendonut1983 found it for anything less than $50 it would of been a 'great find'. I have many finds like this every month but I have never posted a single one. Ocdsteeldor won a sealed copy recently for around $120 or so. Another sealed copy went for $130 and there were 2 CIB copies in different lots that did not go for much at all. There is no such thing as a completed search that shows you what was in the auction description besides from the title.

Seems that your right, i thought "search title and description" also worked if you checked "search complete listings only". But if someone sells a sealed Chavez II, i would think they would put it in the title of the auction.
So if someone bought a Stadium Events for the going rate, would it not deserve its own thread in this forum?
Absolutely. It doesn't necessarily "deserve" it as you put it, but it certainly warrants one if the buyer wants to brag! Actually this came up recently when Braveheart finally picked up his on spec at above "market" value (for which there really is none, high-profile games have proven, there's no going rate). Whenever an extremely scarce trophy piece pops up it's back-patting time. Sharing our successes in collecting is what keeps some of us going, for our community here we like to be apprised. Information never hurts either, knowing one more owner, or having one more confirmed price for a rarity in a specified condition is great to have on record in threads like this. It's all good.

SE is in a class of its own so it deserves a thread no matter what it sells for.
I find it funny that only burnambill replied to this thread after it was posted and then it got 15 more posts that mostly talk about what I had to say. Same with NGDs thread on his great find.
That is cause this is mainly a NES forum and most of us don't care about SNES or N64 "that" much. But people with interests in other systems have a right to enjoy there stuff as well and share with the community. If it is something I am not interested in, then I just don't read the posts in that thread and move along. We don't generally have a shortage of new posts here on NA.

I like that you state your opinion and you're very straightforward, but not rude like nofriendo was. Anybody can post whatever they want to in Finders Keepers, but you are right, that if they get watered down with ordinary finds, then it ruins the excitement of reading them. Nobody wants to read about the CIB Wizards & Warriors III or Kung Fu Heroes that I got today. Mostly this is a place to brag about shit that you just got, which is what Nintendonut1983 was doing. I'm not too familiar with SNES prices, but I think that $70 for a Chavez II is a decent deal (not the best). But obviously Mark was happy with it, which is the most important part!
Well Nick it's like you read my mind! That's exactly what I thought in the first place. I buy lot's of stuff but most of it is pretty common so other's probably don't want to read it. Im not rude in any way and agree that he got a mint game for a good price but the main thing which made me post in the first place was the price. When I clicked on the thread I was anticapating a $10 BIN but I found out it was $70 and I also had the game being watched in my ebay. That's were the excitement level dropped.

Well.. how many so far have posted a own thread about finding games like Wizards & Warriors III or Kung Fu like burnambill333 said? Browsing through the first page in finders keepers i cant see anything like that.
Your example is just hypothetical because 99% of the people here doesnt have any interest in showing of a i.e Super Mario Bros cart so they dont make a new thread about it. You might see some of those threads, but the forum wont be overflooded by them as you shown consern for.
I feel like you put Chavez II on the same line as any other CIB game (as you said yourself). While Chavez II might not be the rarest game it certaintly falls under the uncommon/rare category, especially CIB. If i found a Chavez II CIB in great condition i would probly have posted it myself, even if it was $200.
As NGD says, if there is a thread that you dont find interesting, dont read it. As i said, the forum will never be overflooded with SMB finding threads so dont worry about that.
I know you're not rude or anything and i'm glad we can have this discussion on a civilized level, so kudos for that But the reason why i discussed this is because i just wanted to mention that "finders keepers" is a thread where every find can be posted, not just great value or rare finds. The forum will never be spammed with very common game finds in separate threads as you shown consern for, so you have nothing to worry about
wow super haul. That Chavez ii was DEF worth the money, it's really in great shape. Was the cardboard spacer in it, and you just left it in the outer box for the picture? If the game was just floating without the spacer i'm surprised it was in this good shape.
Um question about Spike McFang (I've always thought this was a game about some dog hero)
Was this an SNES adaptation of Drac's Night Out when it wasn't released? Spike looks like he's wearing Reebok Pumps, the same big schtick from Drac. Got to go dig up some screenshots to compare...
...Hm. So they're different games entirely, even by different authors.
Drac's Night Out was programmed by Rex Bradford and Mark Lesser, by Parker Bros / Microsmiths. Spike was ... well, not them, and released by Naxact/Bullet-Proof/Electro Source. Mechanics and everything are completely different apart from Reebok-Pump-wearing-young-vampire.

I am pretty excited to get 2 more harder to find CIB out of the way.. Well i dont get the ISS Deluxe until x-mas.
Will post pics once they come..
Wanna thank Raregamergirl for the hook-up.
