Sega Saturn Question

So i was looking at my Sega Saturn systems I had laying around and I noticed something odd.  I have 2 systems with the same exact model number, but one of them has a switch on the top!  Now unless I'm wrong, I don't think any Saturn systems had this switch there.  Did someone mod this to play multiple regions?  That's the only conclusion I can come up with.  Any input would be appreciated!

  • Well, I'm pretty sure that switch never came on a saturn. It looks totally out of place. I would guess it's modded for multiregion as well. Could be some kind of test equipment though, you never know!
  • Is there anyway to tell what it was modded for? I did some research and it seems a lot of people modded their Saturn's for multiple regions. So it's got to be the most plausible reason.
  • That's all I can think of, unless it's a mod to play burned discs. I think the Saturn can play burned discs already though.
  • Thanks for all your input, I appreciate it! Maybe if I get some time, I'll mess around with it...Now that I think about it, I think I got a Japanese game along with my Saturn stuff. You'd think the guy I got this Saturn stuff from would know if his system was modded.
