International Shipping

I normally do not allow international shipping on my E-Bay auctions. Somehow someone from Russia won one of my auctions, this confuses me because I didn't offer international shipping in the auction so I don't get how he even one it but anyways.. I need to send him an invoice but I am not sure how much to charge. I looked up an estimate on UPS and it was $160! I checked USPS and rates with tracking (priority) were more like $30. I am very uncomfortable sending it in a flat rate box because I can't track it that way and I am afraid I'll lose my item and my money. Can anyone offer some advise?

  • In the future you want to set your defaults to "I don't ship internationally" - you kind of have to turn it on. That's how eBay "gets you" image

    Avoid UPS for international stuff.

Priority doesn't give you tracking, only Express Mail. If the item's worth like $25 or less don't bother though. I've had no problems shipping to Russia yet. Just send First Class International and pray image

Of course you can also just ask politely to cancel saying you don't ship internationally and that you're not sure how he found your item.
  • I was gonna mail a package to germany last week with fedex 300 some dollars. I mailed it usps with delivery confirmation for 48...stay away from the big ups and fed ex for over seas shipping
  • Hi,

I live in Taiwan and constantly buy items on eBay and stores on the US. They always send them to me through USPS Priority international mail. I believe is the best option and, in my experience, it works great! They do give you a tracking number but basically it just tells you when it leaves the US and when it gets to its destination. It usually doesn't take more than 10 business days to reach its destination. Also, it can be insured.

I strongly recommend you to use this service.
  • I priced it out using a priority flat rate box and delivery confirmation. It came out less than $20 bucks. The item I sold is quite small so I can fit it in one of the small boxes. Thanks for the input!
