  • I think a 5 year old may be a bit too young for any kind of game, even on the Wii.
  • I just got the New Super Mario Bros. Wii. That's not too much of a game for a 5-year-old. As long as he doesn't mind getting killed by goomba's much image
  • You're gonna find more Gamecube stuff that'll be easier for him than Wii games. Gamestop is pretty good for having coupons to blow out their used Gamecube games about once a month or so. (Buy 2 get 1 free, etc.) And their kiddie-type games are dirt cheap to start with.
  • Gamecube games do work on the Wii, but you have to use a Gamecube controller. I would recommend a Wavebird or some other wireless controller if you want to play Gamecube games.

You would be suprised what a 5 year old can do if they get a few practice rounds in. My little ones like Mario Kart, Excitebots: Trick racing, Wii Sports, Wii Sports Resort, Star Wars Lego (can't do all the missions, but does have 5 or 6 he can knock out on his own in free play) and Clone Wars Lightsaber Duels.
  • new smb wii. i went to best buy and my wife who has very limited gaming experience LOVES the game and can actually do well in it. i believe i was about 5 when I played SMB for the first time. yeah, you die a lot. but you get addicted image

Don't worry about that, I started playing Atari 2600 at age two... And kids are so used to technology nowadays!
  • thanks guys , and yeah Nes bro you must not have kids because my son has been on my computer since he was about 2 and a half years old

Very tech savy. already moved up from the n64 he had to a wii.

he wants me to get the mario partys and a game like sf Rush
  • mario kart would be a great game for a 5 year old
  • Zack & Wiki, Elebits
  • I think your kid will absolutely love Boom Blox: Bash Party.

It's really addicting, and it has infinite replay value since you can download other users' levels. Plus, it was made by Stephen Speilberg, so how could it not be good? image

Also, you should definitely look into modding your Wii- it's easy, worth your time, and has zero drawbacks. There's a few threads about it on here.
  • since you said you likes mario party stuff, try rayman raving rabbits (i think its called that). my friend had that and it was pretty fun i thought.
  • thanks wikey , ill look into it

  • Yup, all the Rabbids games should be a hit (the most recent one - Rabbids Go Home is a bit more involved, but the previous games were chock full of fun mini games).
  • Here's a few games my cousin's 4 year old daughter and 5 year old son like for the wii. Go nuts on some choices

    MySims

    Raving Rabbids

    Wii Sports Resort

Wii Play (worth the extra controller)

    Lego Star Wars

    Lego Indiana Jones
  • Here's my choice for Wii games:

    Boom Blox 1 & 2

    Klonoa

    Metal Slug Anthology

    Resident Evil 4

    Mad World

Oops... those last two may not be appropriate for a 5-year-old. But give them to him anyway.

    MWAHAHAHAHA!
  • I have a 5 and 6 year old and they both love all of the Lego games, Indy, Star wars, and Batman, we just recently played Lego Indy 2 and its awesome, he may even like mini ninjas i thought it was pretty easy and my 6 year old beat it the 5 days we had it from the video store
