Acclaim Wireless Controllers

I've recently acquired a couple of wireless controllers (Acclaim's Double Player, black plastic - blue label), and I already had the single player version (gray and blocky). I've noticed that when I play in my living room, both controllers' response is noticeably delayed. But if I play in my room, it is normal. I already tried from different distances, and I know it's not that.

What kind of things can make that variation happen?

Also, sometimes the double player ones tend to pause the game randomly. Another pair of these same controllers I wanted to buy from another seller didn't work at all. Are these controllers known to break up easily?

  • Those controllers are infared. They are affected by the amount of light/sunlight in the room. Also, you're discovering exactly why nobody bought those controllers back when they came out - they don't work very well. When they were new, they didn't work very well. They seemed like a neat idea, but having your control of a game get interrupted because your finger brushed in front of the sensor, or just at random - was not cool. They were the kind of thing that got used for a week, then put away in a drawer, never to be seen again.
