Well, in regards to making your own GG why would want to, if you already have one? Are you talking about for an emulator or something?
As far as the bent pins go, you may want to try taking one of those tiny screwdriver sets and using a flat-head to bend the pins back where you want them maybe, you can also rub the contacts with a Q tip with a cleaning solvent (I use windex) make sure it's upside down while you're doing this though, so it doesn't leak inside the contacts.
