  • only solution I know of is playing the rom on an emulator. It's a limitaton of the hardware. Sprites are going to flicker on Nes/Famicom games.
  • any other suggestion ?
  • The games are designed to do that. It's not a glitch.
  • when i played dragon warrior 2 through dragon warrior4 Sprites never flicker on my toaster version Nintendo when i was a kid .
  • Your memory is incorrect.
  • i think because it was a new game but that copy i sold long ago
  • Trust me, you're memory is incorrect.

The blinking sprites are programmed to do that, due to the display limitations of the NES.

It has nothing to do with the age of the game, the age of the system, or anything like that.

EVERY copy of Dragon warrior 2, 3 and 4 ever made, will do this, no matter what system you play it on.

2nd that motion , arch_8ngel is 100% correct , to save on prosessing the nes does that to some games ...
like dodgeball for one I can think of off the top of my head , the only way to "fix" it , is to use an emulator that allows you to boost the sprite limit per line , if you are playing it on actual hardware well ... you are going to have to deal with it .... sorry ...

That won't really make a difference.

It's not  a processor speed issue.  The issue is with how the NES picture processor actually renders sprites.  It's limited to how many can be displayed simultaneously on a line.  Speeding it up would probably just make them blink faster, if it did anything at all. (and then your music would sound weird)

  • okay thank you for the help
