Bubble Wrap

I've been buying my bubble wrap at Walgreen's for a while now, for the most part because it's across the street from my house. I get 2 12" x 30' rolls for $8. I think it's good quality. it's Duck brand. Is that a good deal or no? I've looked on a few sites and there doesn't seem to be much price difference. But I just may be looking at overpriced sites?  Any info would be appreciated.

  • I get 100'x12" for $15-$20 at wal-mart depending on their sales. "Duck" brand. Good stuff, has 12" serrations.

edit: I haven't tried their brand, but:

  • i just go to the store and snag like 100+ Bags

the plastic bags from foods co work great
  • I guess I'm getting a pretty good deal then, at my rate I would get 120 ft for $16. And I know you would have shopped around for a good price, I actually really like the Duck brand wrap, for the serrations you mentioned, & it's the perfect size to wrap a cib. If I gave you a nickel for every time you've helped me out Dan, you'd probably have a good sized jar of nickels by now. image

    Good call....resourceful.

  • giving me bubble wrap is like giving a alcoholic a bottle of vodka image

i agree with james. I usually just use grocery bags for padding.
  • I get 12"x50' on ebay for like $5.50 shipped
  • I still don't know how they do that so cheap?
  • I'm sure I got a good deal though...let me see if I can find the packaging...there we go, my memory was just bad. It's 150 sq ft of Duck for $15, that's at Wal-Mart. It's not in a cardboard box, it's in a clear plastic bag with the other shipping supplies.

So a little more for a little less, but if Walbrowns is convenient for you then so be it, shun the evil empire! image
  • I get the 12" x 200' at Office Max.

However, there's ALWAYS a sale where it goes down to about 12 or 13 a roll, and then if you buy 3+ it goes to 10 a roll. So I got 3 rolls for 30 when they were on sale, and I don't think I'll be running out for awhile. If you wait for those sales, you can get a good deal on these. Also, it's a good quality. It's very supple and not stiff like those other ones that I see other people use in packages.
  • You guys mean I'm not the only one who buys cheapo envelopes then bubble wraps the game itself? image

I used to use bubble mailers when I was new but I find the bubble wrap / cheap envelopes more effective. Also, if you do a lot of buying, you can usually keep any wrapping materials from the package. I use bubble wrap on games, newspaper with flat rate system boxes (newspaper is heavier) and throw out packing peanuts. I hate when I get a package with packing peanuts!!!
  • I don't know what you guys do with the padding on the packages you receive, but I have several 55 gallon trash bags full of this shit from packages I've received...and endless freaking packing peanuts. I've even given some away to friends that were moving.

How about those packages with the crumbling packing peanuts? I sometimes get systems and games where I have to pick off little crumbs one by one.

However, to Michael too, I find it inconvenient to recycle materials. Often they are cut in ineffective sizes and ways where I can't use them for whatever I'm shipping, and sometimes they are very low quality. I also NEVER use newspaper, I just don't like it. However, I always keep those plastic air bubbles. I find those very useful.
  • I get all mine for free from my mom. She is the packing manager at her work and they just throw it away when they get to much in from shipping. I have trash bags full of bubble wrap, and those little air pocket thingies. image

  • Recycled materials never last through the week at my place. I've been buying very little lately since I completed everything image
  • why all this packaging stuff I just slap a label on the game and ship it

Do you have a CRAPTASTIC Top Gun yet?
  • omg, that'd be hilarious! I could only imagine the look on someone's face receiving their game with no packaging, just a shipping label on it.

I'd be surprised if it actually made it to the person. The USPS workers around here would scarf that thing up in a second. Although.. then again.. most of them have no teeth and are very dirty, so they might not even know what it is lol

Would be a pretty cool test though
  • put a DC # on it to see where it ends up.
  • shoot all i do when i need packing materials is go raid the dumpster behind hte local furniture store they always have the bubblewrap from tables and dressers just grab a scissors and cut to size and you are good to go i probable still got some in my closet right now
