ZSNES emulator

I recently downloaded a folder with 764 SNES ROMS & was wondering if there was a better emulator out there than ZNES as I'm having a hard loading ROMS as it won't let me specify the file path where my ROMS are. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

  • not sure. that's the one my friend told me to use, so I use it as well.
  • I've always used it for my SNES roms with no problems. My main issue with it is the stupid interface. I could do without that.
  • i am no expert, but that is what i use. it is a little odd since you cannot get a direct feed to the roms you downloaded...but i think its still the best.
  • ZSNES is the best out there. If you want you can try SNES9X, it's not as good but has a better interface. I really wish they would give ZSNES an overhaul and give it as nice of an interface and as many features as FCEUX has for the NES.
  • Thanks all, by everyone's response I will definitely try to use ZSNES. It wouldn't let me select the directory by list & it wouldn't allow enough room to type in the whole directory path where I have my ROMS folder, but I'm sure I'll manage to get it going, thanks again.
  • I've tried a couple out (don't remember the names off-hand), but ZSNES is pretty much the best I've come across, too. Aaron is right, though. Interface sucks.
  • The only one I've ever used was snes 9x and I found it worked great and was easy to use.
  • Zsnes is old and outdated.

Bsnes is pretty close to the actual SNES system, however because it strives for accuracy it requires a really good computer.

Snes9x 1.52 was recently released. It is far superior to the latest version of zsnes (which was released over three years ago), and has become my emulator of choice. Sound emulation in snes9x is almost perfect, something that can't be said about zsnes.

I would recommend snes9x 1.52 if you want to play snes games on an emulator. And I say this as someone who is an administrator on the zsnes forums.
  • Thanks Evan I have never heard of BSNES. I tired BSNES & SNES9 & found BSNES to be the best so I think I'll stick with that one.
  • I prefer SNES9x also. It has more features, along with a better interface.
