One suggestion. It is very unfortunate that shipping something out of north america is so expensive. I think everyone should sit back and really think about the cost and time when shipping overseas.
My personal experence The last 3 things I shipped to Italy, Spain and Austrilia the quickest any of the packages got there was 4 months the slowest 6 months
Also the cost was 40 times what the item sold for so it just wasnt worth it.
So I say sit down and think of the cost before making deals
So by your logic I could buy your precious DK Jr math for $600 and then decide its worth $200 after dicking you over for a month and then threatening not to pay at all? I dont think its worth that so that justifies my actions Sorry dude. A deal is a deal. He didn't even need to offer alternatives. Your logic is flawed regardless of spin.
Where did I say that Caveman games is in the right? Caveman either owes him his games, owes him the games for trade, or owes him cash.
OP dropped his price by his own will. If his price were already very fair and he thought he could sell them right back at that price, then he'd demand the return instead of dropping price by $100...
I never implied that. I am simply stating that regardless of "currency" used here, there was value attached to them. Crapping on the person who got screwed is not logical to me. You're right, he didn't have to drop it. He also didn't have to offer the choice to pay $ either. The terms were set before, regardless of how you value them and taking shots at the OPTION he was given doesn't remotely make sense. As stated, dude isn't exactly a noob and knew what he was getting. He could have just sent his shit to begin with instead of attempting to extort feedback. If he can't send his package to begin with, then why would he mail sjoerd's back? He already said it wasn't happening so demanding a return is a moot point. The "loss" has already happened by sjoerd sending his side of the trade and then finding out he wasn't getting his. He very well could have made every penny he wanted for them with the right buyer and that's what I'm talking about. Sounds like you are taking the opposite side of the real victim here by implying he can only charge what is acceptable to you. Again, I don't value DKjrm at $600+ regardless of condition, but you seem to accept that it is. Consensus is one thing, but in reality they are all over the board. So who is out of line then? I'll simply wait until a good deal pops up on a box. Some don't want to wait and pay a premium. Sjoerd has $xxx attached to his stuff and it is his choice. He shouldn't have to justify anything when he dropped the price on top of that to somebody that can't be bothered to honor their end.
Even when this guy is blatantly being a POS you try to find how he was "the victim". Just because someone overpaid on a game (in what seems to be your opinion), does not justify them being a victim one bit.

Because they both are getting the short end of the stick, though Sjord is getting the worst of it. Sjord is out games and money right now, Caveman will be out of money too.
I said he should man up and take the hit and learn a valuable lesson.
Both parties are impacted financially here, something that some people can't seem to acknowledge.

You just don't get it joner. I'll leave it at that.
i can not remove the topic myself, admins have to do that
i will ask them to remove it once i've recieved the payment
Please dont remove this thread. Airing dirty laundry might not be classy, but history is a great teacher.
The bottom line is: regardless of the cost of the items on both sides or the shipping expenses, by setting up a transaction they entered into a binding contract where they both agreed to the terms. If sjoerd lived in america he could probably take this to court, as it is very clear they had an agreement which caveman decided to not uphold his side of.
International shipping is ridiulous though. I got quote from fedex and ups last night to ship one game to Australia they hoth wanted over $100, Crazy!!!!!

Really? It mus depend on the size of the item and the destination country. I just send a few manuals to Speedy_Nes in Belgium and they arrived in less then 2 weeks!!!
Last time a member posted PMs they were blasted, were they not? I thought we agree to no public posting of PMs?
Yep, that would be this guy right here. Even better, since the rule was added to the FAQ and before this thread was started, only two other members have posted PMs in a thread...
Both of which were mods. Eh, what are you gonna do?
Payment can be paid and payment can be disputed if this topic is not removed..you yourself can physically remove your postings....I'm not new here...simple request to solving something that could have been solved without being made public..
You sending payment has nothing to do with this topic remaining. Not only can I undelete it, I can unedit comments. Making threats here is only going to get you banned, so I suggest you quit while you're ahead.
Snap!
I too have a lot of faith in the buying and selling community here, but I guess in a perfect world, everyone of them would go perfect
I have no problem with this thread being allowed if it helps to clear up a deal, but it also is clearly against forum rules.
You don't think it's confusing to members that this thread is a-okay to mods/admin but in other situations gives you get a slap on the wrist at the very least?
Xtincthed is a good guy and I really hope he gets his a fair deal out of all of this, but the rule in the FAQ should be amended to reflect when situations like this are allowed.

I sent a tennis racket to spain took 3 months. i sent a set of ssp smash up derby cars to austrilia. after 6 months the guy finally got them.
some things get thru some get held up in customs forever

The difference here Mark is he was told by an admin to post this. Of course there are going to be exceptions to every rule.
Actually for the record, I specifically asked for quotations not to be used three times, but the cat is out of the bag now. I asked for a short factual summary, this is what we got. I did sign off on this so I take responsibility.
i know this is honestly none of my buisness but the solution is as simple as it could possibly be. you agreed to the deal, either send him his games or the agreed upon amount of money. it sucks that shipping will cost you that much but it's your fault for not looking into it before agreeing to the deal.
Here is the # 1 solution. Send me the games and I will send them internationally FOR you. This is (for the record) bullshit that this isn't taken care of already.

I recently had a deal on AtariAge with Chris. I was super happy with it. He gave me an awesome price on some Pokemon strategy guides, and he shipped them out immediately. All of his feedback is legit, and well deserved.
That being said. Chris.. I'm sorry dude, but every time you make another post, you sound worse and worse. The stuff that is really hard to read, is how you keep trying to hold stuff over his head. You are in the wrong here. Threatening people with feedback and such, makes you look horrible.
I have seen some of these threads before. The OP could have made you out to be a monster, and slandered your name and reputation, in a 1,000 word essay. If you had come into the thread though, and said "Hey dude, I don't want any trouble or hassle. I'm gonna fix the problem.". Next day, new post. "Ok guys I have fixed the problem (sent the money, sent the package, whatever), peace.". You would have never tarnished your rep. People would be piling up in this thread with congratulations, and pats on the back. They would be saying stuff like "I'm so glad you came through man, what an awesome dude!". I have seen it happen.
This thread did not tarnish your name, no one lost trust in you, because of anything the OP posted and brought public. Your own public actions, the stuff you posted yourself, and how you handled yourself, is what people made judgments on. I think for some people, you are too far gone now, for them to ever trust you. I think you can still save your rep with most of the community though, if the next post you make goes like this:
"Whoa, I just read through this whole post again tonight.. Wow, I am so sorry for how I handled this, and how I have been reacting. I'm going to make this right, right now, sorry OP, and sorry community. After clearing my head, I realize I made some bad actions. This is not the norm.". Then leave it at that, don't make any retorts, don't say anything about the forum, don't hint any bad feelings towards the OP, or try to point out something someone else did wrong. Just straight up, bare all the burden yourself, even if you don't think it is fair.
I still have faith in you, and I would still deal with you. I hope my post hasn't soured your feelings towards me. I am honestly just trying to help you out, because I know you can be a great guy to deal with, and I wouldn't want to see you leave NA.
I still have faith in caveman. Listen bud, I know when times get tough, ppl just give up and run. Things look bad now, but if you just tackle the problem the best you can and update the community with your actions, you can still turn this deal into a positive note for yourself. I hope you do what is right, Ive had some good convos with you, and wish to do the same in the future with you still being a reputable member. Best wishes to both of you.
i won't comment on the situation here, i think the PMs say enough as it is.
...but regarding shipping outside the US - do NOT use UPS. not sure about FedEx, but UPS has been known to charge a 'broker's fee' upon delivery which has nothing to do with customs fees or anything like that. it's absolute bullshit, not to mention their high costs of shipping abroad to begin with. i once sent a strategy guide to Canada which i had sold for $35 (and listed this value on the paperwork). the buyer was charged an extra $30 by UPS upon delivery. i called UPS to ask about it and they played dumb, saying that it had to do with customs. needless to say i haven't used them since, and have never had any problems like that with the US Postal Service. ehh, i'll stop there, maybe this should be a separate thread? really though, do NOT use UPS for shipping outside of the states. i've found USPS to be very reliable and quite reasonably priced as well (no idea what's up with the quotes i've seen mentioned here).
